About Cwm Wye Camping

A wonderful location to switch off. This off-grid site offers an 'almost wild' experience in the beautiful Powys countryside. A haven for wildlife, the site is just a stone's throw from the River Wye with the woodland providing a restful shaded area. There are just six non electric grass pitches onsite, each dotted around to ensure optimum peace and quiet. Each pitch allows tent and trailer tent campers only, with a maximum of six guests per pitch. Evenings can also be spent enjoying the communal fire pit, with all firewood provided. Bring your marshmallows, cook up a BBQ or simply unwind and have a chat with the other campers. This is a dog free site, and individual fire pits are not allowed. Please note, the site is a member of the Greener Camping Club so at least one of each party must be a member, but this can also be purchased when you book.

Cwm Wye Camping is open from 01/05 to 29/09.

A note from the site themselves...

We are a working sheep farm and it is important to us that we provide a great habitat for wildlife. The farm borders common land known as 'Common Coch' which provides beautiful views of the Epynt Firing range and Cambrian Mountains. We want people to come and enjoy the natural surroundings around them.

We are also proud to say we are a member of The Greener Camping Club. We look forward to welcoming you to our campsite, Tania

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Thank you for letting us stay on your site. The meadow grass with cut outs keeps people's plots separate and can make it feel quite private. Woodland along the side with facilities spread around is great. Very quirky construction using good old up-cycling. Situated up and over the hill from the farm house on a newly built stone track. Is bumpy for cars but fine if slow. Believe they are planning further works so will probably have totally changed by next season. Owner services the facilities once/twice a day or more if contacted and came to check we were ok. Feel like they would have come up to check anyway. Owner mentioned improvements or things to add, as I recall it was only their second summer being open. My children said some outdoor play like a giant tyre swing or perhaps a nature obstacle course. Cut log stepping stones, etc. Only critique really being to manage who they are marketing the site to and who to attract, relative to the policies set out that attracted me to it.

Site's response

Thank you for the lovely review, it was lovely to meet you all and we are happy you enjoyed your stay. We are looking into added some more play equipment for next season so watch this space ☺️

So lovely!

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

We loved this magical place as soon as we drove down the track to the field! Its location is right on the banks of the River Wye on the path of the Wye Valley Walk and is surrounded by wonderful oak trees. We were lucky to have the place all to ourselves, although full capacity is still only 5 tents max at the moment. We loved the wooded area with a fire pit and BBQ area which we used one chilly night. The place is rustic and thoughtfully designed. Tania, the owner, is a hoot. Such a lovely lady who'll do anything to help if you ask. A little hidden gem.

Site's response

Thank you so much for your lovely review ☺️ so glad you enjoyed. It was lovely to meet you both and you are welcome back anytime.
