Adult Campsites

5 good reasons you should consider adult campsites

Campsites face their busiest time during summer, when the schools are out and the kids are running wild. If the thought of sharing your holiday with noisy kids doesn’t appeal, then you may be in need of an adult-only campsite! Many people don’t think of this option when researching their holiday, so here we’ve listed 5 reasons why you should consider adult campsites.

1. Tranquillity

The main reason most people choose an adult campsite is to have a relaxing holiday in a truly peaceful, tranquil environment. Campsites are great for families, especially those with young kids to keep entertained, but you may not wish to spend your holiday surrounded by everyone else’s kids as they scream over ice cream!

Most adult campsites are for people 18 years and older. If your children have grown up and flown the nest, you may be looking to indulge yourself. Or perhaps your kids are over 18 and no longer interested in the ball pool, and instead wanting a chance to relax in between university study or work commitments. At an adult only campsite you could all have the relaxing break you crave.

2. Entertainment designed for you

‘Adult campsite’ doesn’t translate into ‘no fun allowed!’ It simply means that rather than spending all their time striving to keep the kids happy, the campsite can provide luxury entertainment suitable for you. We also have some of the most luxurious glamping sites ready to be booked by you.

Some campsites provide facilities for adult hobbies, such as fishing or boating. Often adult campsites have features such as lakes or rivers that provide offer a unique opportunity for holidaymakers to take up these hobbies on the very doorstop of their caravan.

Other parks have leisure facilities where you can relax and enjoy, such as a sauna, spa or swimming pool. So even in winter, there will be plenty for you to do on-site as well as exploring the local area.

3. Flexibility

Many adult only campsites are open all year round. They don’t focus on working around the school holidays, so you can enjoy a break when ever you like. At an adult only campsite, you needn’t worry about whether the campsite – and indeed the pool - will be overflowing with kids.

Those with pets will be happy to hear that adult campsites are often more welcoming to those who wish to bring their dogs with them. Alongside spacious grounds for you and your pooch to explore, be sure to ask the owner about local wildlife walks. Check online before you book to make sure the adult campsite in the area you want to visit allows dogs all year round.

4. Freedom to explore

Many adult only sites are set in the countryside, with nearby beauty spots just waiting for you to explore. Some have lakes or woodland on site, or are situated near stunning countryside where you can go for a walk or cycle.

For a spot of culture, you can take a stroll in the caravan park or step into the nearby villages. The campsite owners will have plenty of suggestions for cultural places you can visit in the nearby area. Alternatively you can research the local area by checking websites such as the National Trust, who own a variety of heritage buildings and gardens across the country.

5. The Pub

What list of holiday trips would be complete without a mention of that favourite activity for adults – an evening out at the campsite bar or the nearest pub! Many campsites are situated next to a delightful local pub, but only at the adult campsites will you be able to enjoy a pint of beer or a glass of wine without having to worry about tripping over abandoned tricycles on your way back in the evening!

The advantages of adult campsites outlined here are only five of many reasons why people would choose this type of accommodation. If a peaceful, entertaining, flexible holiday spent enjoying the local wildlife – or just the local bar! – appeals to you, then an adult campsite could be the perfect option for you!
