Aintree

Home of the Grand National, Aintree near Liverpool needs no introduction. The course was established in 1829 and is known for having some of the toughest fences in the UK. This is a prime steeple chasing venue hosting exciting fixtures throughout the year.

Epsom Downs

Epsom Downs in Surrey is the perfect place to learn about the history of horse racing in England as this famous track dates back to the 17th century. The three main fixtures in the Epsom Downs calendar are the Epsom Derby, the Coronation Cup and the Epsom Oaks, which all attract a bevy of spectators year after year.

Ascot

This famous UK racecourse in Berkshire, particularly known for the elaborate hats worn by women at its summer events, is a hotbed of action throughout the year and is a firm Royal Family favourite. Numerous Group 1 events and hunt races are staged at Ascot throughout the year, including the Royal Ascot Festival, the Prince of Wales’ Stakes and the King’s Stand Stakes.

Newmarket

This huge site in Suffolk is formed of two highly respected courses: The Rowley Mile and The July Course. The history of the town has been deeply associated with horse racing since the 1600s. Today, Newmarket is a lively hub of exciting music nights, award-winning restaurants, family-friendly activities and world-renowned flat racing.

Goodwood

Goodwood in Sussex is one of the most beautiful and pristine courses in all England. Cheltenham

Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire, which is considered to be the home of English jump racing, is a must-visit track for any racing enthusiast. One of the main fixtures on Cheltenham’s calendar is the four-day Cheltenham Festival in August which was attended by more than 20,000 people in 2013.

Sandown Park

Sandown Park has witnessed many spectacular moments in horse racing and has played host to many famous and royal faces since its inception in 1875. Kempton Park

Whether you are a horse racing fan or just looking for a fun day out, Kempton Park in Middlesex offers plenty of choice for any visitor. Kempton’s line up this year included an Easter Family Fun Day with Peppa Pig, the Mascot Grand National and plenty of race fixtures. Kempton also plays host to one of the UK’s biggest outdoor markets every Thursday as well as an eclectic bi-monthly antiques market.

Doncaster

Highlights at Doncaster Racecourse in Yorkshire include the St. Leger Festival (which features the classic St. Leger Stakes race) and the prestigious Group 1 Racing Post Trophy. Many new up and comers can be spotted at Doncaster as well as some of the best thoroughbreds in the sport.

Brighton

After a few days wandering along Brighton’s bustling lanes and pebble beach, why not head to its delightful racecourse for a day of entertainment. Punters can get right up close to all the action at this four-furlong circuit by heading down to the finishing line or watch the lively activity from one of the course’s bars or a la carte restaurant.
