It was amazing stay, lovely staff and great camping experience. What more could you want than a campsite in the woodland? Quite and peaceful break away from the chaos of everyday life.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a lovely, friendly and very helpful member of the team. Our pitch in the woods was perfect; spacious, private yet close to facilities. The fire pit was enormous and plenty of options for hiring interesting cooking pots and stoves were available. Washing facilities were spotlessly clean and of a high standard. There were several walking routes through the beautiful pine woods and the blackberry bushes were plentiful. We only stayed one night, however this back to simple camping in a stunning setting enabled us to relax instantly. The two older teenage boys loved it too.

I recently had the pleasure of spending seven nights at Beech Estate in East Sussex, a back to basics campsite, over the Easter holiday and it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease and immersed in the natural beauty of the surroundings. One of the standout features of the campsite was the incredibly supportive warden, Ben. He went above and beyond to ensure that I had everything I needed during my stay, from providing detailed information about the local area and nearby hiking trails. What really stood out to me was Ben's unwavering commitment to making sure that every guest felt safe and comfortable. He was always available to answer questions and address any concerns that I had, and his friendly demeanor and positive attitude made me feel right at home. As for the campsite itself, it was a true back to basics experience - no frills or fancy amenities, just a peaceful, natural setting with plenty of space to relax and unwind. The absence of technology and modern distractions was a welcome change of pace, and I found myself fully embracing the simplicity of the experience. Overall, I would highly recommend this back to basics campsite to anyone looking for a refreshing and rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And if you have the pleasure of crossing paths with Ben, consider yourself lucky - he truly is a gem of a warden who goes above and beyond to make every guest feel right at home. I'm already planning my return visit.

Although a bit pricier than others we've been to, the woodlands were beautiful and the toilets and showers clean and well stocked. Would recommend out of holidays for a really peaceful experience!

We had an absolutely awesome stay with you over October half term! The children spent hours exploring the woods and neither the rain nor mud stopped us enjoying a fire every night we were there. Can't wait to come back!

Thanks so much, Rebecca! Great to hear you made the most of the campsite and campfire despite the weather, we look forward to seeing you again.

Fantastic pitch with fire area (with grate) logs to sit on. A view to die for and surrounded by the beautiful Sussex countryside. You park up in a separate area and 'wheelbarrow' your bits and pieces to your pitch (so you don't wake up to any cars etc.) The acres the site in on offers brilliant country walks and the staff were relaxed and helpful. It felt 'almost' like free camping with benefits! It wasn't amazingly cheap - but you'll struggle to get a better location if forests and fields are your thing.

We had a wonderful stay at this campsite. The staff were just so friendly and helpful, plenty of space between pitches and the layout of the whole place is so well thought out. The washing facilities were great (we particularly enjoyed the bucket showers) and the fact you are in woodland made for such a magical experience, especially with the children. I loved the fact that it was also a quiet site so we had no problems sleeping or being disturbed by music. I look forward to returning again soon.

I took my boys to Beech Estate Campsite for a couple of nights. The forest location was fairly secluded for us (we had a pitch next to the main campsite/reception but there were other more remote pitches that looked great). The wild setting is perfect if you like nature and to get away from it all. The site is very well managed, toilets are clean, showers are warm etc. We will definitely be returning!

Nice location. Good facilities. There are giant wheelbarrows to transport gear to campsite. Although it was a short stay and didn't get a chance to explore the local area as we spent the day at Beachy Head Cliffs. Lovely clear nights for star viewing.

Love this place for hammock camping. Pitches are far enough apart to be hidden from others. Quiet and peaceful location. Have been here several times, even though there are families camping as well with children (it's great to see kids being kids and not stuck in front of a screen) they are still considerate to others around them 👍 The walks and views are fantastic all around you. The facilities are basic (would do you expect, it's a nearly wild camp) and they are regularly maintained. Staff are great and very approachable.

We had such a warm welcome from the owners who showed us our pitch for the 3 nights we stayed. Even though we have a huge 8 man tent, we had plenty of room. The teens and I loved that we were off grid and in the middle of the woods and especially enjoyed cooking on a proper open campfire. We went for a walk on the red route (there are a few to choose from) and ended up getting lost in the woods for 2 1/2 hours but it meant we saw 8 deer in total and not one other person. It was idyllic in the Autumnal sunshine and much needed. The washing up area and toilets were kept very clean and have everything you need, including hand wash, sanitiser and washing up liquid. Even though we didn't use the bucket showers these looked super cool. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we all agreed it was the best campsite we have ever been to. Definitely will be returning!

This is a truly special campsite. Each pitch is nicely secluded and makes you feel you have the whole forest to yourself. The facilities are so clean and well maintained. One set of flushing toilets and plenty of compost toilets that are actually very pleasant because they are well maintained and well designed. We look forward to returning soon. Thank you

My grandson wanted to camp in woods away from other campers. This site fitted the bill perfectly. We had two wheelbarrows full of camping equipment and getting to our pitch was down hill so no problem setting up. More effort needed on leaving! The pitch was secluded with plenty of space for our tent and there was a fire pit. Compost toilets, bucket showers and washing up facilities were just a short walk away. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. All three recommended walks were completed, although the walk to the pub was poorly signposted and we ended up back at the campsite and had to take the car. Wildlife spotted? Rabbits, a fox and a badger! We heard owls but didn't spot any. On the downside, but only a little niggle, was that some campers ignored the after ten quiet time. The Squirrel Inn does good food and we highly recommend the cafe at Netherfield for breakfast. We would definitely come back!

Thank you for your lovely review! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at the campsite and the local walks around the forest. Sorry to hear you found the pub walk badly signposted, we will have a look at updating this, all the growth we've had can sometimes lead to signs being hidden by nature! We hope to see you again soon.

We had an excellent pitch, with a great bit of forest behind us, and even though lots of people arrived the next day we still felt secluded enough. Has a beautiful walk which was one of the marked ones in the forest and we saw deer while there. Great that cars can't get in and you bring your stuff over in a wheelbarrow which lends to the proper camping experience! Great eco awareness with compost loos as an example. Thank you.

Beautiful setting - the woods are amazing. Facilities are clean and very well thought out. Great for families, but if you want quiet then go outside of the holidays or not weekends. The families left on Sunday morning and the place became serene and relaxing. Wonderful. Would definitely come back at the right time of year.

Thank you Martin! We're so pleased you had a great stay. These are very helpful tips and we definitely recommend those looking for a quieter stay to visit us outside of peak times as we do cater for families for the majority of the holidays. We look forward to welcoming you back again!

So nice to find a campsite that offers a real getaway. Felt like proper wild camping. We had some issue with noise from a neighbouring pitch which was swiftly dealt with by the wardens. My children survived a whole weekend with no tablets or phones and enjoyed proper family time. Would highly recommend.
