Graig Wen is settled in the Snowdonia National Park overlooking the Mawddach Estuary between seaside Barmouth and historic Dolgellau. The views are breathtaking and you can access the scenic Mawddach Trail from site. Nestled within mountains, with Cader Idris, sandy beaches, castles, steam trains, biking and zip lines close by, Graig Wen offers you a place to recharge whether camping or glamping in yurts, bell tents or a chic shepherd's hut.

Graig Wen campsite was beyond expectations. We stayed 4 nights with our 5yo and 9yo. They loved exploring the campsite and the views, we loved the scenery and the peace. Campsite staff were helpful and friendly, the pizza from the mobile van was excellent (only in peak season I think). We have already recommended this place to friends.

Arrived in the dark but first words in the morning were 'wow'. Amazing location. Really handy for the trail which is accessed through the camping part of the site. Toilets and wash basin were close by, with the showers past the main house. Warm shower block with hot showers. Information board telling you if anything going on locally which is a really nice touch. Can pre order pastries and bread via reception. Picnic benches dotted around the site, including one overlooking the amazing view of the estuary - not sure if these are for the panoramic pitches only. Caught the bus (£6) to the George III pub with a taxi back (£15), which was a very enjoyable evening of good food and amazing gravy! We tend not to return to previously used, sites but I'd go back to this one.

We had a great short stay. The availability of morning pastries and coffee was a lovely touch as was the ice-cream freezer. The shop was handy too…we really enjoyed an evening cider, beer and crisps after our long walk! Amenities were clean and user-friendly. John was professional, friendly and informative and we plan to visit again when the weather is better. 😁

In a fantastic setting on the slopes overlooking the estuary, this is a campsite that really works with its natural surroundings. Very different from the rows in a field kind of site, it's more a series of mini-sites. Some are a little bit of a trek from the car park, but well worth it. There are rustic amenities on the periphery or you can walk up to the modern shower blocks near the reception. The bike trail on the old railway is at the bottom of the site for easy access to Barmouth and Fairbourne. Enjoyed the pizza evening they put on and the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout.

We had a great time in the hut. Very peaceful and wonderful nature. All the facilities you need. The sourdough bread was delicious, as were the Welsh beers. Ideal area for longer walks.

For a solo female traveller in her old Citroen C25 van, this was quite a revelation. I'm more used to wild camping but that is frowned upon in Wales, so I picked this site for two days and WOW! The place is super organised and thoughtfully laid out. The showers were huge and hot - the rustic showers downhill to the campsite were quirky and lovely. Didn't meet the owner, but the staff were efficient. Great choice of things available from ice cream and anything you'd need for a fire pit. The best part was the wildness of the location set on a steep hill which took you down to the estuary and footpath. There were stunning meadows and wooded areas and it was quite easy to get away from the more formal area at the top (though that's small and not noisy). There were 8 van hardstandings I believe. I really would recommend this site for its peace and beauty and great facilities. It was also easy to find!

Great facilities, peaceful, low key and beautifully situated within stunning views and to explore the area around. Would highly recommend and very tempting to come back with a tent so that we could camp down near the estuary.

We loved our almost-wild camping experience at Graig Wen. The pitches were so quiet and the view is amazing from all over the site. It was very low key (we actually didn't see the owners, or almost anyone else) the whole time we stayed. We thought the toilet and shower facilities were really good. If we went again we'd definitely book some logs so we could have a campfire, it looked really cosy. (Also, we'd hopefully book on a less stormy weekend, although the site is pretty well sheltered).

So long as you don't mind lugging the bikes up a long, steep hill, the location is absolutely ideal because you can cycle off road along a breath-taking estuary to the beach and the train station at Barmouth. The campsite's app was really helpful too. Walk up to the lakes and take your bathing costumes. Swimming in the lake was unforgettable.
