Ashford is perhaps best known for its designer shopping outlet and Eurostar international passenger rail links, but that's a bit unfair. There's plenty to do here.
Just outside Ashford you'll find Godinton House & Gardens (well worth exploring) as well as the 100 acre farm at the South of England Rare Breeds Centre, complete with exotic butterfly tunnel and pig racing!
Walkers will love access to the North Downs Way, Pilgrims way and Greensand Way - the latter passing through beautiful bluebell woods in spring. The coastal route of Saxon Shore Way runs for 160 miles between Gravesend and Hastings in East Sussex, with the North Kent Marshes a particular highlight.
You'll find more strenuous walks with stunning views at Wye National Nature Reserve and Stour Valley too.
Tenterden nearby, is a pretty town. Take a steam ride on the Kent & East Sussex Railway, or enjoy a glass of one of the award winning sparkling wines at Chapel Down Winery.
Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Hythe is one of the UK's best safari experiences, with 700+ animals roaming the 600 acre park. Historic Canterbury is only a short distance away via the A28.
