Frome's place in the heart of the Somerset countryside is enough to charm any visitor.
Travel back in time a Frome Museum which takes you through fine art, metalwork and printing displays. Radstock Museum exhibits artefacts from the Victorian era, but you can also get revved up at Haynes International Motor Museum and the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
In terms of art, the Black Swan Arts gallery boasts a small but impressive collection. There are several nice parks in the town, Victoria Park is pleasant for strolls and picnics and then there's the pretty Italian gardens of Iford Manor, and Braton Country Park too.
Get away from it all in the Walled Garden at Mells with its attractive gardens, excellent views and quality café. Historic architecture comes in the form of Nunney Castle - lovely ruined castle just outside Frome.
To really flex your shopping muscles, The Frome Independent is a fantastic vintage market held on the first Sunday of every month where you can browse retro and unique pieces. At any other time of the week, the cobbled streets of Catherine Hill are the place to find independent boutique shops and the area has a relaxed, upmarket feel.
If you're in the mood for history rather than fashion, Cley Hill is a popular attraction nearby, an Iron Age fort with Bronze Age barrows, and is a short journey away from the town. And for a day out waterside, pack the family off to Shearwater Lake for a tasty picnic with fishing and sailing or just walks beside the lake's edge.
If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of the city, Bath and Glastonbury are also close by.
