About Morris the Shepherd's Hut

Morris is a quirky standalone shepherd's hut, fully equipped with integral shower and W.C . Available throughout the year with a log burner and heat tubes for chillier months, it offers peace and tranquillity in your own space. Why not also enjoy a soak in the hot tub here too? It's ideal for couples, but one adult can also rent it and enjoy a blissful solo nook in the country. Morris is well positioned with a short drive to both coastlines (40mins). Ideal for walkers and couples who like the outdoors and nature. The hut has everything you need and some visitors never venture out in the winter, as it's so cosy inside. There is a double bed with electric blanket for added comfort and a small but fully equipped kitchenette providing basic cooking facilities, with a tea/coffee station, microwave, induction hob, fridge etc. All bedding, towels and essentials, such as logs, will be provided for your use. You'll even be treated to a welcome pack of assorted breakfast items, like milk, bread and butter. During the spring/summer Morris comes into his own, with beautiful views down the valley, lovely sunsets and incredible starlit nights. There is an abundance of wildlife to see. Birdfeeding in the garden is an added delight, as there is a bird table, insect and butterfly box. If you are up early enough, you may be lucky enough to see otters playing in the river. There is a pretty stream running along side the shepherd's hut, and woods behind. If the weather turns, there's a DVD player and DVDs, plus a books and games drawer and outside covered seating area. In Morris's private garden, guests can relax in the secluded arbour with stunning views across the valley. Toast marshmallows over the fire pit, or enjoy a BBQ and a glass of wine or beer. Try some stargazing, there is little to no light pollution here, and on a clear night the sky is amazing!

On site you can cook up something tasty around the BBQ, go birdwatching and of course all the best Welsh walking and exploring starts from your doorstep.

If you are the adventurous type there are many outdoor activities to do in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Horse riding is popular, and there are several stables and riding centres within an hour's drive. Beaches are clean and many are sandy. The lily ponds at Bosherton are a must-see in the summer with a beautiful walk leading down to a spectacular sandy beach. Watch the salmon leap at Cenarth Falls, or see the old market town of Newcastle Emlyn, where the last dragon in Wales was slain.

Coast, countryside, valleys, mountains and forests are all easy to reach from Morris and Gelliwen, along with outdoor options such as outdoor activity centres, and attractions. Try the Blue Lagoon Waterpark and the Anna Ryder-Richardson Zoo or Manor House Wildlife Park, each 35 minutes away.

Several spectacular beaches are within easy day trip distance, including Cenarth 25 minutes away, the seven miles of golden sands at Pendine (30 minutes), Tenby and Saundersfoot, each 35 minutes, and Freshwater West within 55 minutes. Off the coast, take a boat from Tenby to Caldey Island in Carmarthen Bay. Bring your camera along here too for pictures of the Caldey Abbey, as well as the island's seals and seabirds.

To puff around the countryside in old-school style, hail the Gwili Railway 25 minutes away at Bronwydd Arms. It hosts regular events, plus Sunday lunches, cream teas and train driving experiences are all available too.
