Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

Overview - highly recommend! Lovely location, fantastic and friendly owners, excellent value for money. Had planned this trip for a while but left booking quite late. Hadn't even looked at campsites until a few days before so left it very late expecting all the best places to be taken. Booked Wenault Wild Camp as it was near to where we wanted to go and looked nice but didn't really do much research other than that. I myself was late to arrive but the rest of my party were on time and warmly welcomed by the owners and shown to our pitch. The field itself is massive with plenty of space for multiple groups without feeling crammed in. Each pitch has it's own firepit and there is a communal shelter near the top of the field. The view is stunning and on a good day you will be able to see for miles. The compost toilets, whilst basic, are more than ample and most importantly clean, dry and tidy, with hand washing facilities available just outside. There are also showers onsite, which is a great addition to any camping experience. There is secure parking in the field so there is no need to carry all of your camping gear miles, which was very beneficial when we had to dodge the rain setting up. The rural location is another key part to the appeal of this site. You have the perks of being out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the sound of birds singing and the stream that runs through the site whilst also only being about 15 minutes from Neath and the associated shops. There are plenty of local walks from the campsite to keep you entertained with walks such as the 4 Waterfalls and Pen-y-fan about a further 20-30 minutes away. There was also another camping field with pretty much the same set up plus, should you wish to enjoy a more luxurious camping trip, there's also a more private field with Shepard's huts etc, which looked great. Throughout our stay, the owners brought us drinking water and checked to see everything was ok with our stay. I simply can't fault anything during our stay. This is a wonderful local family run business that deserves so much more support. If you're reading this trying to decide whether or not to book - go for it! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you very much for everything, we wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing how the site develops from here.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesApr 2024

Quick two night stay at Wenalt Wild Camping with an 11 year old keen to try our tent whatever the weather😂. Heavy rain and realising in the middle of the night that our tent needed re-proofing didn’t detract from a nice stay at this super-friendly family run campsite. Facilities are good - compost loos, showers with hot water, nice, covered outdoor cooking area, fire basket / pit - you can buy firewood from the owners. Easy to get to as near M4 but feels secluded. Beautiful views. Nice walks nearby and within 20mins drive of beach. Would recommend this…we’d definitely come back. Thanks to Adele, Beiron and family for the friendly welcome.

Amazing stay, will definitely be booking again if I'm in the area. We felt very welcomed and were looked after with daily deliveries of bottled drinking water as well as great recommendations for walks and fishing spots in the local area :)

Bell Tent - Bell TentsSep 2023

We stayed in the bell tent as a family of 4, two adults and two children. We timed it just right and had some beautiful weather. The pre-pitched bell tent with beds was great, as it meant we could turn up, put our bags down and go. We really enjoyed the secluded and peaceful site, perfect if you are wanting to get away from things and really immerse yourself in nature. It was great to have a barbecue and fire pit to use and we enjoyed cooking outside whilst we stayed in the bell tent. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

Lovely stay, full of character and very kind hosts

Very tucked away, beautiful views, staying here for just one night - everything very nice special thanks for the service from the hosts, so friendly and we forgot our bedding and they provided! Really great spot not too far from the four waterfall hike which we did. Thanks again.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

We originally booked from Saturday to the Monday but we left early due to the weather, travelling to Snowdonia as a spontaneous trip and just awkwardness with other campers. The owner of the site is absolutely lovely and the facilities are what you expect camping but kept clean! I absolutely loved that we could pick our own pitch as it meant I could keep our disabled son close to the car and it was his first time camping! The location isn't terrible but it's quiet the off roader haha! My one wish to the owner of the site, as I never actually got to speak with her, is that the rules of the campsite was to keep dogs on lead and under control, which is was what I read when booking. I'm all for dogs being dogs and I was raised round German shepherds, rogues, cane corsos and now three mini dachunds for my SEN son. We train our dogs and hand sign train them. What I didn't respect or like was another camper on the same field allowing her dog off the lead to come bounding to our tent trying to then get into the tent because we had food (dinner), then when my partner tried taking our dogs out of the situation, who clearly felt threatened, proceeded to stand there and have her dog in my three dogs faces, who, may I add, were on the lead at all times and during this incident the woman then got awkward with us as we wanted to eat our dinner and her dog was agitating our dogs. We then had a family of 5 from across the field, and the father watched everything we did to even getting in the car and driving off which made us feel quiet un-easy So in the end we stayed one night and decided to go elsewhere we travelled to snowdonia at 8am and home by 9:30pm As I say the campsite was lovely, facilities great, owner was lovely! I don't think dogs should be banned at all but there should be rules and rules adhered to as we found it extremely stressful with "divvy" dog owners on the site and overall it made us highly uncomfortable.

Great getaway

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

Had great 3 days away camping with my son. Surrounded by beautiful woodland with much peace and quiet. The facilities are basic but it's all you need for camping. The hosts were helpful and friendly which made it even more welcoming. Local pub down the road and nearby shops (5 min drive). Definitely go back again to chill out and relax. Recommend paying for wood for the fire pits, only £5 for everything you need to fire it up.

Gorgeous views and relaxed vibe

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

Gorgeous views, nice hosts and massive open fields with woods, river, great for kids to walk explore and spent hours playing outside. Great fires available and very relaxed atmosphere, Facilities were ok for "wild camping" style. Loved the compositing loos, very well thought out and clean. Showers could go up a few degrees and take your own torch for light in them, also big muddy puddle in front of washing up so unless got wellies got bit covered in mud. some gravel or large stepping stone would sort it. Sounds negative but tiny points that would make a big improvement. Would in no way put me off going though. Enjoyed our stay a lot!
