Whinfell Hall Farm Campsite is a peaceful base, ideal for exploring the Lake District's western lakes, Wainwright's favourite fells and the Cumbrian coast. There are non electric and electric grass pitches for tents, as well as electric grass pitches for touring caravans and camper vans. The site offers a back to basics experience when you can get back to nature and unwind in peace at this rural retreat.

This family friendly camping and touring site is set in a secluded location, great for exploring the Lake District's Western fells and lakes. The site has basic and simple facilities, ideal for those wanting a traditional camping holiday. There are non-electric grass pitches for tents or camper-vans, as well as grass pitches with 16amp electric hook up for tents, campers and touring caravans alike. Explore the breathtaking nearby scenery including the River Cocker and Lorton Valley, both providing picturesque views. Campfires are not allowed but firepits and BBQs are as long as they're raised off the grass to avoid causing damage to the turf, please ask for bricks. A maximum of three dogs are allowed per pitch and there are a number of nearby trails that are perfect for long dog walks. Groups are accepted (not stag or hen parties), but when booking a group, a phone call first would be appreciated.

The closest lakes are Crummock, Loweswater and Buttermere, all of which have beautiful perimeter walks for you to enjoy. Fishing and boating permits can be obtained for all three.
Lorton Vale Trout Fishery is just a five minute drive away and is great for anyone looking to relax by the water whilst taking part in their favourite sport. Cockermouth Golf Club is also just 12 minutes up the road.
A 10 mile drive over Whinlatter pass takes you to Keswick, with a variety of restaurants and pubs, also a good theatre and plenty of walking and climbing shops. The Cumbrian coast is a little further, but there are some good beaches, like St. Bees, just south of Whitehaven.
