About Church Farm
This farm is a not for profit community interest company, setup in order to innovate and create sustainable small farm enterprises. It produces every cut of meat, every vegetable and every fruit it can. Value is added through doing its own butchery and processing, making ready meals and guests eating in the pub, cafe - and buying from the farm supports this.
There is a core team of full and part time people who help across the enterprises, supervised work experience for adults with difficulties volunteers and much more contributing to getting the huge amount of work done on site, to grow food and bring it to market.
With 175 acres, there's no shortage of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside to enjoy and space for everyone to spread out on grassed pitches without electric. One area even offers a chance to swing a hammock from the trees or camp in tempting woodland.
This is a place for quiet camping and enjoyment of the countryside. Ideal for families and friends, there are unallocated pitches to enjoy for tents and motorhomes.
Campfires are welcome and kids love meeting the animals, feeding sessions and all the fun of the farm.
Plus, wooden cabins provide a cosy break for families (sleeping four) and bell tents (sleeping up to five) offer some incredible glamping packages to suit any taste. These include mattresses and blow up beds as standard (wood burner in the cabins), while you can add extra packages with freshly laundered linen and bedding, Prosecco and glasses, BBQing essentials and much more.
Enjoy connecting with the land and getting to know where your food comes from!
Grass camping pitches are available during school holidays. Woodland pitches and the cabins are available all year round and bell tents are available from Easter to the end of August.
There are plenty of facilities on site including an outdoor shower unit, water and compost loos in the fields. There are also showers and toilets at the farm and a farm cafe, perfect for breakfast, lunches or afternoon tea and cake. You can shop at the onsite farm shop with essentials for your BBQ and more. There is an indoor soft play area and outdoor woodland play area too.

A note from the site themselves...
We are a community interest, not-for-profit social enterprise. We set up the site to innovate and create, replicable and sustainable small farm enterprises. The project started back in 2008 and it took over six years of losses and a steep learning curve to get it to full production and just break even!
At the heart of everything we do is rural care and education programmes. We provide training and work experience for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues and offer educational trips, internships and programmes to local schools and colleges.
Our 'Co-farmers' work with our experienced staff in small mixed-ability teams in a variety of jobs to suit individual interests, needs and abilities, contributing to the upkeep and maintenance of the farm. We are very proud of everything we do here and hope to keep it going for many year to come, Tara
Grass camping pitches which are not allocated, but rotated between fields with events and livestock. Small campervans, hammocks and tent camping all welcome. No electric.
50 x Hammock and Woodland Camping Pitches
Max 6 people
Wild camping in woodland, ideal for hammocks, tents and tarps. No electric.
We camped for one night with our two year old grandson. Lovely little farm with a nice café, shop, playground with tractors and diggers, and very friendly staff.

Thanks, Ollie.

Small Tent - Grass Camping PitchesMar 2024
Enjoyed my one night stay as I achieved what I wanted - woodland camping to raise money for charity.
But beyond that, there were lots of activities to do on the farm and also I noticed a large number of families with young children enjoying themselves either in tents or in the cabins. I think the ability to have fires is great as it both allows barbecues but in the evenings we all do enjoy an open fire to sit around and chat.
The farm shop is excellent I had the breakfast pack, but may use it with delivery or from another site they are associated with near my place of work.
The Jolly Waggoner whilst not frequented by myself, is also highly recommended by friends living in Cromer next door.

Hi Andrew, thank you so so much for such a positive review! A small, not-for-profit business like ours thrives off of word of mouth comments, so we really do appreciate that you have taken the time to comment on your visit.
We pride ourselves in the fact that we offer many kinds of activities here as well as camping, and we are so glad you enjoyed this aspect.
As for enjoying a BBQ and sitting around a camp fire, there's nothing quite like it, is there? So glad you enjoyed that!
Ah yes, you're more than welcome to order food from Aldenham Country Park. And you'll have to try the Jolly Wags next time!
Thanks again for visiting us, and for your lovely review. You'd be more than welcome to come again and we look forward to then!
Thanks, Ollie.

VW-Type Campervan - Grass Camping PitchesSep 2023
Really beautiful, well kept site with more than expected amenities and things to do.
It was difficult to find any level ground, which made sleeping tricky. It would have also been nice to be allowed to play some low level music but we couldn't, due to the "no music" policy.
Other than that I would definitely recommend and visit again 👍🏻
Site's response
Thank you so much for your kind words, Tanya! We are so happy you had a great time.
We are in a bit of a valley, especially our Lowany meadow, but we do certainly have flat ground in other places so we're sorry you couldn't find your preferred space.
Low level music is tolerated during the day, but at night we don't allow music. Apologies if this wasn't made completely clear upon arrival.
Once again, thanks for the review and we very much appreciate your strong score and recommendation! We hope to see you again some time in the future :)

Things to do on site and in the Stevenage area
This is a very special place, where all the family can visit a real working farm. Go for gorgeous walks around the site, feed the animals and then show the little ones a good time at the woodland play area or follow the Fairy Trail.
Enjoy walking the farm and seeing the animals - this is your very own slice of country heaven.
