Knepp is home to incredible safaris across 3,500 acres, taking in its superb free roaming wildlife. Suitable for families with little ones over 12, it's hard to imagine a more unique camping or glamping experience in the Sussex countryside than at this special place. Take it all in from camping pitches in lush meadows or any one of shepherd's huts, bell tents, luxurious yurts or even a superb treehouse, with wild swimming, pizza ovens and more.
A truly wild experience in nature, the Knepp Wildland Project is set around a farm in beautiful Sussex country. No matter that you're in a haven of wildlife, it's just an hour and a half from London and 40 minutes from Brighton and the seaside. Camping pitches are offered in a tempting wildflower meadow beside an ancient woodland. Staff are careful to limit campers and avoid overcrowding. To keep the incredible dark skies and help everyone see the stars, there's no lighting at night - so do bring a torch. There are a range of unique and handcrafted shepherd's huts to enjoy, set in gorgeous woodland and offering a fantastic romantic break. Some contain beds that suit shorter guests, and you may find if you are taller that you are more comfortable in the spacious beds of the bell tents. The bell tents have all the luxury of a kingsized bed, decorated with quirky vintage furniture. The two yurts are spacious, each with a king size bed where you can blissfully spread out - they're set off with unique, character filled furniture. The treehouse is the most recent arrival at Knepp, built in an oak tree and set in its own secluded corner. It includes stunning views from a platform four feet off the ground, nestled in a mature oak.
Open from 7 April to 30 October
Bring your own tent. Each pitch (maximum two tents and four people) has its own upcycled fire-pit and barbeque grill. There are a limited number of pitches and they are set in a wildflower meadow.

Check-out is by 10am.
Sorry, pets cannot stay.
No cooking on wood-burning stoves in the shepherd's huts or fires other than in the fire-pits and BBQs provided.

No noise after 11pm.
Staying at a safari park, you'll be able to see the re-wilding of the area and its extraordinary wildlife if you join a safari, by purchasing an extra ticket. The experience could be even better with a bespoke safari, which can be arranged for special occasions.
Around the project stretch 16 incredible miles of special walking paths, around 3,500 acres, and five tree viewing platforms, which are absolutely unmissable. The views are gorgeous and it's the perfect way to explore. Stop off at the bird hide overlooking Knepp Lake to see what the feathered residents are up to, as well.
Toovey's is a top local auction house and has regular sales of antiques, collectors' items and fine art which you'll love browsing and perhaps you might pick up a treasure to bring home.
Parham Park is a lovely Elizabethan house nearby with a superb collection of fine art and a lovely garden that will tempt you for a day's relaxed exploring.
