Woodland Retreat Shepherd's Hut is a luxury, adult only shepherd's hut, located in beautiful woodland frequented by red squirrels, roe deer and many species of bird. The hut is in a peaceful rural location with lots of walks, only two miles away from the market town of Hawes with the famous Wensleydale Creamery on hand. This characterful option for couples is the perfect way to explore the Dales, with a double bed and en-suite facilities inside.

Whether on foot, bicycle or by car, the hut is an ideal place to stay and explore the national park. It's set in woodland opposite Thorney Mire Barn B&B, in a secluded location just outside Appersett. It's perfect for anyone who wants to relax and pursue a passion such as photography, art, or writing where nature can inspire you! Plenty of local wildlife make their home in the woodland. There is a squirrel feeder located in front of the hut, and it is visited most days by red squirrels. Hawes is just a two minute drive, or a 25 minute walk away, with its famous Wensleydale Creamery. The hut is brand new and offers large windows with views of the squirrel and bird feeders, the woods and beyond. It includes a small bathroom with eco toilet, shower, washbasin and heated towel rail, plus a kitchen with all the bits and bobs you need such as a kettle, toaster, fridge, microwave and crockery. You'll have the purest of local water too, from a Yorkshire borehole. The interior is furnished with a comfy set of chairs and a table, plus an open wardrobe, electric sockets and USB points for your gadgets. After a satisfying day exploring, you'll be able to sleep soundly on a double bed with Egyptian white cotton bedding. Outside the hut is a table and chairs for taking in the magnificent view, BBQ and chiminea.

From this ideal location, waterfalls, fell walks, woodland walks, wild moorland and gentle pastures are all there waiting to be explored in Wensleydale. There are numerous footpaths that take you on wonderful country walks in all directions from the hut.
You might try touring the Dales in your car, on two weeks or just on your own two feet. Nature surrounds you, with a chance to go red squirrel spotting, snap fabulous photos or try your hand at painting. If you've always wanted an escape to write that book - you've found it!
A short drive away is Swaledale, a beautiful dale with ancient pastures and at Tan Hill, Englands highest pub! Or a quick hop in the car will also take you to Ribblesdale with the famous Ribblehead Viaduct (used in the Harry Potter films) and the challenge of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. A 45 minute drive will take you to Malham with its spectacular Cove, Goredale Scar and Tarn.
