A note from the site themselves...

Tim and I have lived at New Hanson Grange for 36 years, where we have raised our family. Flora, fauna and a love of the countryside have always been a passion for us.

In 2011, in addition to our already successful self-catering Bungalow, we decided to diversify into traditional shepherd hut Glamping, where "Lily", our pet-friendly hut, was born from this, closely followed by "Fern" two years later.

The woodland is ever-changing, with snow on the ground and frosty branches. In Winter, it has been likened to a scene out of Narnia, while Autumn brings a blaze of colour. We invite you to stay in our cosy shepherd huts, " a place for all seasons," and reconnect with nature and enjoy our corner of the Peak District and take away some memories of your own.

Shepherd's Hut - Fern Shepherd's Hut (Pet Free) Sep 2023

What a joy to share Linda and Tom's piece of paradise! Their hospitality adds a good measure of local friendliness. In the enchanting silence of a moonlit night, the pastures breathe restoration. My daughter joined me and we could not spend a better day together elsewhere. The lovely landscape is laced with hiking trails and cycling paths. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Shepherd's Hut - Fern Shepherd's Hut (Pet Free) Mar 2023

We stayed for 4 nights and could have stayed longer. The hut was so cosy, clean and well equipped, the perfect base to explore the Peak District. The tissington trail is just over the road with many more walks accessible by foot or short car journey. Tim and Linda had prepared everything perfectly and the breakfast hamper was a lovely touch, a great way to start the day. The shower and toilet facilities were great, clean and private. There is also a fridge and washing up area. We had such a great stay and I keep thinking about the comfy bed and crackling fire now I’m back home! Would really really recommend.

Site's response

Thank you Ruby for choosing to stay in our shepherd's hut and for your lovely feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your glamping experience at New Hanson Grange. Many thanks - Linda & Tim

May 2022

This was our 2nd stay in the Shepherds Hut, Lily. Linda is such a warm and welcoming host. We chose here because of its location, and the peace and quiet. We got a break from the noise and technology of day to day. As there are only two huts in a contained area and only one allows dogs, we could relax knowing we were not going to be approached by other dogs, we didn't need to worry about our 11 year old dog who is reactive. You have all the basics in the hut, pots, pans, a little stove, kettle for cups of tea and little meals. For proper meals we visited 2 local pub restaurants, The Jug and Glass in Hartington, and The Bowling Green in Ashbourne. If you enjoy a good steak then The Bowling Green is the place to go. There are lots of local walks right on your doorstep or you can drive further afield like we did to Buxton for a walk in the country park. We really enjoyed our second stay here, and will be back again in the not so distant future.
