About Wild at Heart Garden

This secluded, non electric adult only site for tents is located in the countryside, a stone's throw from the River Till, and just 20 minutes from Lincoln. Choose between two spacious private grass pitches - 'Dixie' and 'Holly'. Each pitch has a mains water standpipe and a utility tent with a private toilet. You can also hire an ensuite tent with a hot shower/wash-up package. There is a picnic table and a parasol available to use. Another area 'Fox Annexe' is available for relaxation and enjoying a BBQ. Guests may erect their own gazebo here if desired as an extension to their booking. You are also able to hire a gas fired BBQ, table, kettle and cooking tongs/spatulas package (additional cost) for the duration of your stay. There are two large size single camp beds for hire, but guests need to bring their own bedding. A camping kitchen is available. Bikers and backpackers are very welcome. There is plenty of room if two bikers come and wish to have separate tents on their pitch. A limit of two guests per pitch makes the site quiet and personal. Pitches include room for motorcycles, and car parking is near the bungalow on the gravel drive or in dry weather in front of the farm building. Trolleys are provided to transport your belongings. Enjoy wonderful sunsets in Lincolnshire's open skies. You may even catch sight of a friendly buzzard or shy Roe deer. The dark open skies are great for stargazing, and there are additional chairs placed around the garden for your use. A few simple camouflage hides are in the field for birdwatching. In wet weather, it's a good idea to bring wellies and a torch too as there isn't any electricity in the field. Mosquito repellent is advisable. Anne, the campsite owner, lives on-site and is around to greet and help guests settle in. Ice packs can be put in the house freezer if you wish. Your pet is welcome to stay with you if kept on a lead at all times. Please respect the wildlife and clean up. A disposal bin is provided.

Open for weekends between 17th May to 14th July. Due to weather flooding, the campsite is not open until the end of May this year to let the land dry out and recover.

A note from the site themselves...

Wild at Heart Garden is a 'semi-retired' five acre small-holding. We came here in 1973 to begin an adventure, learning about animal husbandry and caring for the land. We hand milked two Jersey cows and made butter. Free range hens roamed the paddocks.

Now, the old hen huts are left for nature and the cowshed is covered in climbing roses and honeysuckle. It has a relaxed ageing charm which is part of the appeal for our guests.

It was a personal dream of having a wild garden that began in 1984 when we started planting 2000 native trees and shrubs in time for the Millennium. They are now matured to be home to a wide variety of wildlife. The wild grass meadows have mown tracks for access and areas for relaxing and watching the wildlife.

Our campsite is another adventure in our small-holding life which is now shared with our two children. We even named the pitches in the meadows after our grandchildren. It is our aim to provide a warm welcome to our visitors for a weekend to relax and enjoy the peace in our garden. We hope you enjoy being here as much as we do.
