A note from the site themselves...

The site is situated within an old brickyard on the Holkham Estate. The last brick was made here in 1951, and since then the land was largely forgotten until the current tenants moved in and decided to clear the wilderness and create a little tucked-away haven.

Safari Tent - Brickmaker's RetreatOct 2023

Every part of the experience was wonderful. We were met by Tim on arrival, who showed us the important bits, then let us get on with it, but gave us options to contact him if needed at any time. I stayed with my two young children and felt very safe. The safari tent was a fabulous adventure for us all, including the outside, beautifully warm shower experience in the cold weather. The rustic cooking and dining, the sights and sounds of the wildlife and everything in between. Even though the rain was continuous and heavy for one whole night and day of our stay, it added to the adventure. We made up and learnt new games and how to improvise with no technology! The experience was very grounding for us all and would most definitely stay again (probably for longer).

Site's response

Safari Tent - Abbott's RestApr 2024

What a great experience. We headed to Norfolk on a last minute outing as the wife had holidayed in Wells-next-the-sea as a child and wanted to go back. We aren't really campers in all honesty, but the Norfolk Brickyard popped up when looking for accommodation and we decided to book into one of the safari tents 'Abbots Rest'. What a great experience it was. Ideally located just a couple of miles away from Wells, with good amenities in reach. The site itself is a wonderful and humbling place to visit, overseen by a great host - Tim. Everything you need is there and packed with character, from the furnishings to the facilities and even the communal wood fired oven. Our kids loved the visit and had great fun exploring the site. It is great to see them get back to basics and enjoy nature for a couple of days, which is something that the brickyard provides in abundance. Our tent had it's own little camp fire area, which saw many a marshmallow over the 2 night stay! I would highly recommend this site and we look forward to visiting again in the future

Absolutely amazing!
