Great little camp site if visiting the lakes. About a 20 minute drive to Scafell pike. Welcome greeting from reception upon arrival. Shop and reception sells food drinks and other essential items for camping. Also has WiFi as signal is near enough non existent. Great pub 30 second walk from campsite which has a lovely village feel to it. You will have to pre-book your food though as it's very busy. We had the delight of the pizza van as well which did great pizzas so we didn't need to pre order food at the pub. Great little campsite toilet / shower blocks were great and plenty of lovely people around to meet!

Great facilities in a friendly welcoming site, stunning views and close to some lovely pubs. The kids enjoyed the playground so much!

Lovely place and nicely spaced plots. The only thing that would have made it perfect is a better stocked shop and maybe a small café serving food. Just because it is so remote, it would have been nice to have more food options. Pizzas were lovely (despite the guys being hilariously disorganised 🤣) Would stay again.
Site's response
Thanks for the feedback reagrding the food van. The pizza van and reception satff have revisited and imporved the ordering system, so there is no confusion regarding what day orders are to be made. Glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you on your next stay.

This camp site is of good size and is part of a working farm. The site caters for static homes, caravans, campervans and tents all with or without power. The shower and washing block is good with laundry and washing up area on the back. The reception also has shop facilities and there is a pizza van that comes on site, a couple of nice pubs 200m down the road ads to the attraction. The site is about a mile from the Wast Water lake and circa 4 miles from Wasdale Head and the foot of Skafell Pike, many walking routes and hills can be started and finished here making it a great place to stay.

Staff at reception/shop were really helpful and there was a good variety of gear reasonably priced in the shop. Good location for us as we were there to climb Scafell Pike. Showers were clean and warm. Nice cleaning area for pots and pans. And there is also a pub just over the road which also does loads of good food using local ingredients. There is no/ very limited signal, but there is free Wi-Fi at reception.
Great location, so peaceful and picturesque

The campsite is in a great location with amazing views. The toilets/showers were always clean, as was the Pod when we arrived. The heater in the pod was great and kept us warm all night. There is a nice pub just outside the camp entrance, which was ideal. The only downside was that the WiFi is only available at the reception/shop, but maybe not necessarily a bad thing! Would recommend.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome, they were very helpful with a hiccup we had with pitching our tent, so thankful for the help pitching up. The site is surrounded by beautiful views and walks, nice little play park for children. The shop was well stocked and all staff had good local knowledge. The facilities were very clean with lovely hot water. There's two village pubs which look lovely little 5 minutes walk, if that. I have had a great weekend and would recommend to anyone wanting camp at the Lake District.
Perfect for peace and quiet!

A lovely stay at Church Stile Campsite, the location is perfect for walks and it's only a short drive to a beach. Lots of pubs near the area, one that serves amazing food! The facilities were good, clean and tidy but the showers varied in temperature. The campsite is nice and quiet, with a good farm shop.

We had a brilliant time at Church Stile. The facilities were accessible and clean, the space we were given for our pitch was a good size and the staff were always on hand for anything. We were unfortunately next to a large family who partied every night beyond quiet hours into early hours of the morning but understandably this is out of the staff's hands. The only reason for knocking off one star for facilities is the electrics went out quite regularly the first few days. For details online about the campsite, it may be useful to know how long an electric wire you would need as ours was too short and we had to turn our tent around to make it fit without spending additional money, which meant we were looking at a hedge during our stay. Overall, a really good stay and I think I have swayed the other half to go camping again.
Site's response
Thank you for your response. On future visits, let a warden know of any issues you may have and we would be happy to solve them while you're onsite. E.g. a longer cable and a conversation with your neighbours.

First time camping with the Mrs and from the moment we got there everything was spot on. Not a better camp site around, will be coming back.

We upgraded from a pod to a shepherd's hut. It had a double socket for electricity but it was under the end of the bed, so it was difficult to reach. I think it would be better placed above the small table. Also we didn't think 1 double socket was enough these days for 2 people with a phone each and a watch each. We also needed to plug in the light and boil the kettle. At night, the campsite is pitch black. I would think it a good idea to have small solar powered lights along the edges or at least fluorescent markers to reflect from a torch. The toilets and showers were excellent, and free. The shop on site is full of lots of things, including food. All in all, well worth a visit but take your torch.

Lots of space and quiet (in September). Possible to park your car next to your tent. The ground is good, doesn't get boggy after rain. Clean and warm bathrooms and showers. Sinks for washing dishes - maybe a bit far from some pitches, but that's about the only downside. Friendly staff, and it's in a great location for walks and swimming in the nearby lake. Would come back - and probably will!

Great location and a lovely campsite, only a little sad that I was staying for 2 nights. Great little farm shop on site, super helpful staff and well maintained pitches with plenty of space. Hot showers, clean toilet block with laundry and pot wash facilities. Really nice pub with good meals just a couple of yards down the road.

Brilliant site, amazing for children/families but also for people without kids. The staff were all exceptionally lovely and put my partner and I away from the families in a quieter field with other couples (away from the playground), which was kind of them. There is a wonderful shop on site which stocks everything you need (we forgot a toothbrush and toothpaste) and it is all very reasonably priced (wonderful alcohol stock also). The location is perfect for Scafell Pike as it was a 15 min drive to Wasdale to start our ascent. The location is generally very scenic, but has a wonderful selection of nearby pubs and cafes some are an easy walk from the campsite or some are a short drive. The shower block and toilet facilities were great, they are cleaned daily and are in great condition. This also offers a laundry room and a large communal sink for dishes. The site was incredibly affordable at £22 per night (car was extra £3) and we hired a fire pit for two nights which was easily organised with the reception desk. During our stay we added on an extra night as we were having such a great time and this was easily accommodated by the staff. It didn't bother us in the slightest (enjoyed getting away from technology) but may be worth noting there is no Wi-Fi on site other than by the reception, but chairs and tables have been added undercover outside of the reception to allow people to use this comfortably, which is lovely. Downsides: a very bad smell around the sewer and bins section, so request a pitch away from this if possible. The bins were over capacity so hard to find space to dispose of rubbish, so may need emptying more frequently during busy periods. However, we stayed around the bank holiday so there may be a bin collection delay due to the time we stayed.

Great site with great facilities and location. Marra also very good value and service. Will definitely be back and would recommend. Only slight point of criticism was the smell from the camper van chemical toilet emptying point.
