Things to do on site and in the Scarborough area
This is a lovely spot for exploring the North Yorks National Park as well as Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Pickering, Goathland and York are just a bit further away.
Keen walkers will be pleased to hear that the site is close to the Cleveland Way walking trail and the Moors to Sea cycle route, as well as the Old Cinder Track which runs between Scarborough and Whitby.
Cycling and walking are very popular in the national park and you'll be rewarded with unbelievable sea and moorland views in all directions.
There is access to the pebbly beach from Ravenscar. There is path round the edge of the golf course at Raven Hall Hotel and acces depends upon the tide, but once reached the location is well worth it.
A disused railway line from Whitby to Scarborough is very pleasant for hiking and passes by the Hayburn Wyke Pub and later some tempting tearooms at Cloughton. Alum shale shaped the coast you see now, so why not explore the old Alum Works in Ravenscar, which offers hands-on activities and exhibitions for adults and children.
For hot meals, The Bryerstones Inn at Cloughton is highly recommended, but there are many other good options in the area.
