You could practise your swing at the golf club next door, or pedal along great mapped walks on your doorstep - cycling is a favourite pastime in the area.

Explore routes on the former Boston to Lincoln Railway, the Water Rail Way, and follow a sculpture trail inspired by the works of the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson just a stone's throw away.

By car, meanwhile, the best beaches on the coast are all within easy reach - or take the Boston Belle out from the quay in Boston. There are inland cruises up the tranquil river Witham or bracing trips out to sea to spot the bold seal colony on the river Welland.

Boston nearby is a small market town with a host of medieval history. Visit the church known as the Stump, with its 365 steps to the top of the tower with glorious views.

An ancient village near the east coast of England in Lincolnshire, Swineshead is only small but is home to the Grade I listed St Mary's Church and other Grade II listed historical buildings with some dating back as early as the 1100's with some fascinating stories behind them.

Swineshead also has a village store, farm shop and hobby shop amongst others and nearby Swineshead Bridge has a railway station on the Nottingham-Skegness line.

The beautiful town of Sleaford is also just a short drive away as is RAF Coningsby, home to The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Woodhall Spa further afield offers golf courses and an outdoor swimming pool.

The cathedral city of Lincoln and Skegness and historic Burghley and Belton Houses and Tattershall and Belvior Castles are all less than an hour's drive.
