Myself & my friend stayed here it’s around 1 hr walk from the ferry crossing. Really convenient & absolute beautiful location. Hats off the to the owners the onsite bar is a brilliant idea & you can hire fire pits etc when you’re there for extremely reasonable prices. The shop here was generally cheaper than the shops at home for the items we forgot. These seem like genuine honest people & I will 100% book here again.

Perfect spot. Really close and direct access to Lake Windermere. Small bar that sells snacks and beverages. Extremely accommodating host, never caught the gentleman’s name but he was fab.

Great campsite, great location. Rocky lake nearby to paddle board on. Very peaceful and blissful. Showers are hot.. only downfall would be toilets need more regular cleaning/bins emptied.

A lovely campsite right on the lake. It’s small and peaceful, we were told it was fully booked for the weekend but all tents were still spread out; it didn’t feel full and you had your own space which was perfect for us as a couple. The facilities were basic but had everything you’d need including fridges/freezer for food, washing facilities and a toilet/shower block that were clean enough for how’d you’d expect a campsite to be, only minor point is there’s no paper towels/hand dryer provided for drying hands. There’s a little cart on site that serves hot drinks/alcohol and snacks and you can also rent fire pits for £5 a day and £6 for logs which is a lovely touch and you can also bring your own bbqs to cook food. The lake is a short work through the field and there’s a few little ‘beach’ areas to chill on and go swimming. The site suited everyone, from families, to groups of friends and couples. Overall I would definitely recommend and would happily come back.

Had a great time. The location was ideal, especially being so close to Windermere lake with easy access. Firepit, wood and kindling available as well as hot drinks. Plenty of space with lovely views. Showers and toilets are adequate but quite small, and one of our group only had cold water in the shower they used. We would highly recommend this campsite.

Good location on Lake Windermere, from the site to the shore, it's a short walk through a field and through a gate. There aren't many pubs/restaurants/cafes close, but the camp bar/shop was open until around 22:00 in the evening which sold drinks, snacks and fire pits. I love that there were no designated pitches and as long as you were respectful of your neighbours, you have the freedom to pitch where you like. The shower, toilet and cleaning facilities were great and clean (especially considering the mud from all the recent rain). No vehicles on the camping field, but the carpark was secure. I felt safe leaving my motorcycle here overnight. I'd say I thought it was on the expensive side of basic campsites, but I'd definitely return if I wanted a quiet and remote campsite on Lake Windermere.

Nice and cheap. Good amount of facilities kept clean. Wheelbarrow in car park to help move all camping equipment. Staff not always around and are away for long periods of time. Coal wood and food all sold at reception which comes in handy. Will be coming back for a longer stay next time.

We stayed for two nights camping at Graythwaite and really enjoyed our stay. The field for tents is huge, which we really liked because it meant we didn't have others pitching up right next to us so had some privacy. There's a really nice view over lake Windermere and it's a short drive to both Hawkshead and Ambleside. The downside is we felt the facilities aren't great. The toilet and shower block were quite dirty and there is nowhere to dry your hands after washing them. The showers are a tiny cubicle with just a curtain for privacy so getting dried and dressed afterwards was difficult. We loved the camping here but felt the toilets and shower facilities let it down. We've stayed in campsites of a similar price to this and had a lot better.

Glamping at Graythwaite was fun, relaxing and exceeded our expectations - a roomy bell tent in a perfect spot just moments away from the lake was perfect for a few days connecting in nature! Wandering down to paddle, games on the grass, watching the sunset with toasted marshmallows and table football in the communal tent - but our highlight of our stay on our favourite side of Lake Windermere was kayaking with Graythwaite Adventure! Fantastic family fun, we will be back!

For a holiday on a budget, this was absolutely perfect. Almost right on the edge of Windermere, the location is breath-taking. The onsite facilities are as you would expect at a campsite but the staff are on hand to deal with anything. The quirks of the horsebox refreshment stand and the visit of the pizza van add to the site. We got very lucky with the weather, so much so that we had a swim in the lake and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We would definitely go back and highly recommend it to anyone looking on a budget.

Great glamping experience for first timers. The best part of it all had to be the location which was perfect, being next to the lake. Good hiking trails and easy for water sports. The campsite had a great setup and good facilities. They have a little mobile truck selling simple drinks and snacks. They have refrigerators on site that allow for 1 x grocery bag of food per tent. Also a large TV setup and communal tables/games for visitors staying on site. The staff was pretty good about attending to the facilities and overall needs of the visitors. Will definitely look to come back in the future.

Brilliant holiday! Great camping experience! Beautiful location, the 2 young men there (Wayne and Joe) really got on well with our teenagers and puppy! Thank you both for making our stay memorable and special! It was sad saying goodbye to you guys!

This was a new campsite and they made improvements daily from feedback. Staff couldn't be anymore friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Tents were incredible, lots of space between each tent area and incredible views. Facilities included wood for fire pits, shared fridge and freezers, a big tv screen with a gaming station for kids or adults, and a little onsite shop in a cool converted van. There were also some fun games and picnic tables under a funky tent with lighting. The location could not have been better. Toilets were portaloos which for me was disappointing and the cabin showers were quite small and difficult to change clothes in. There was no private area with mirrors to dry your hair or brush teeth etc. but I am guessing by next summer that will have been improved. Site overall was just gorgeous and loved the pizza nights and early morning swimming in lake. My dog loved it :) Will be back!
