This campsite in St Joseph's Wood, the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, offers you the unique opportunity to get back to nature in a beautiful open nature reserve. It's perfect for couples, families or large groups due to the abundant space. It's also been very popular for themed parties, birthdays, sleep-overs and large group trips such as corporate or military training. Duke of Edinburgh groups stay all the time, too, and it's an ideal space for back-to-nature group expeditions. Pitches are just minutes away from the famous Aysgarth Falls 3-tier Waterfalls within peaceful clearings. You'll be staying in a highly accessible location close to the main footpath route at Aysgarth Falls. There are a number of clearings within the 30 acre woodland in which are ideal for Groups / Reunions you can then decide where you want to pitch your tents, with total freedom, with no charge for awnings, tarps etc.

Camping in a 'Back to Nature' 'Wild Camping 30 acre Woodland' Campfires are permitted. Festival Compost Toilets. Less than 10 mins from the Famous Aysgarth Falls, Water Falls.

Nearby there is a Licence'd village shop and two public houses serving pub food, and take-away's,

Dry cut logs can be provided if required, taken to the woodland for you.

The is no set check out time on departure day, enjoy your time in the Yorkshire Dales.

House Rules

To keep our Woodland beautiful, animals and wildlife safe and ensure you and your group enjoy your stay we have detailed some house rules below.

We politely ask you to respect them during your stay, thank you.

Please do not interfere in any way with livestock or wildlife but enjoy watching them from a respectful distance.

Please leave all gates how you find them.

Please do not damage trees, gates or fences.

Please do not leave litter especially cans, bags and ring pulls as these can cause significant harm to wildlife.

Please only use a campfire within the campsite (not under trees).

No dogs permitted.


On site campers are encouraged to light their own open fire and BBQ. Why not have a sing-a-long around the camp fire toasting marshmallows and sharing tales? Or stay up and enjoy the Dark Skies, and Star Gaze

You won't want to miss the Yorkshire Dales National Park river walk, taking in all of the stunning beauty of the waterfalls. Bring your swimwear and have a dip! You can walk behind a waterfall, paddle in your dinghy, search for prehistoric fossils, build a sandcastle or relax by the water reading a book. It really is total peace and seclusion from the urban world.

Children are free to use their imagination to enjoy woodland adventures such as hide and seek, treasure hunting, making bows and arrows or wherever their imagination takes them! The woodland is full of native fauna and wildlife including wild deer so keep your eyes peeled for them grazing under the trees!
