About Newton House Farm

This small, family run campsite in the North York Moors National Park is the ideal base from which to explore all that the Yorkshire Coast has to offer. Enjoy peace and quiet with a limited number of pitches, surrounded by glorious countryside away from the busyness of towns and cities. Perched on the edge of Sneaton Forest, the site offers just 20 non electric grass pitches, so the place will never be too crowded. Each pitch measures 8m x 5m, allowing up to four guests to camp in tents only. There are also two cosy pods on offer, ideal for those who prefer glamping. The pods sleep up to two and are furnished with a double bed, tea/coffee making facilities, a mini fridge and outdoor decking area. Cosy bedding is provided but remember to bring your own towel. Thanks to some clever insulation and underfloor heating, there's no need to worry about being cold at night! There are plenty of woodland rambles leading directly from the site. Make sure you give Falling Foss Waterfall and Tea Garden a visit, just ten minutes away, for a bacon butty and warm cuppa in the morning. Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are both also within a 15 minute drive, offering long stretches of beach, boat trips, amusement arcades and historic attractions such as Whitby Abbey and its famous 199 steps. Four-legged friends are welcome, just make sure they're kept on leads around the site. BBQs are also permitted, though campfires are not, sorry! Unfortunately due to the layout of the site it is not suitable for those with mobility issues.

Camping is available from the end of March until October, the pods are open until November 18th.

Facilities and amenities

There is a shared facilities block consisting of bathrooms with flushing toilets, hot showers, a washing up area and underfloor heating. There is a small kitchenette equipped with kettles, a toaster, microwave and crockery/cutlery.

Just a ten minute walk away you'll find Falling Foss waterfall and Tea Garden which served food and drink during the day. The nearest shop and The Plough pub are in Sleights, a ten minute drive away. Larger supermarkets, pubs and restaurants can all be found in Whitby, 15 minutes from the site.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesApr 2024

We have just returned from a fabulous break at Newton House Farm. The location is perfect for lots of different local places such as the Foss Fall, Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby. There are several different pubs, restaurants within close driving distance. The facilities were clean, and perfect for what we needed. Be aware, they are at the top of a slight hill, no issues for us or our dogs but could be for others! The views were incredible, everyone staying was polite and respectful in terms of noise, and despite some wind, the weather has been spot on. Could not recommend the site enough, we will be back and would certainly recommend. Thank you.

Beautiful stay

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMar 2024

Lovely place to stay good location, nice walks down the road and a Waterfall. The facilities are nice, only 2 toilets with the showers in but this wasn't a problem for us as there weren't many people there. The toilets and showers are nice but no hand soap when we arrived, but then some was put in. There is a kitchen there but I didn't use it, but went in and looks nice. Plugs to charge your phone and a kettle in there. Not much signal there, so perfect if you want time away from your phone. We didn't see anyone there but check in is in the kitchen area. Lovely place to stay and will be coming back again. The only thing I have is maybe the owners could put some lights on the fence up to the bathroom as it's very dark, so make sure you take torches with you. Myself, my partner and our dog stayed there - good for dogs.
