About Cilrath Wood Camping

Set on an 18th Century working farmstead, turned into a wildlife conservation site, in the heart of Pembrokeshire, this site offers a peaceful and off-grid camping experience surrounded by nature. Just a five minute drive to Narberth and a 20 minute drive to a beach, there is plenty nearby to explore! There are 15 pitches on offer here, each surrounded by an abundance of flora and fauna. All pitches are secluded, non electric and have private picnic benches, fire pits and cooking grids. There are seven grass pitches for tents only, set in the meadow where long grass keeps pitches private, for even more seclusion there are four woodland pitches. For campervans, four pitches at the top of the site overlook the valley and Preseli Hills. The camping area is vehicle free to preserve wildlife and ensure everyone's safety, so children are free to run wild! Wheelbarrows are available to transport equipment from the car park which is located a couple of hundred yards away up a fairly steep grass slope from the meadow pitches. There are two sheltered communal areas for guests to use for activities and evening gatherings. One is a canopy hung over a bluebell hollow with a fire pit, and the other is an open barn that sits next to the brook and wildlife lake, perfect for some evening sun! The site is just a five minute drive from Narberth, known for its independent shops, restaurants and pubs. For a day of sandcastling and splashing in the sea, there is a great selection of beaches within a 20-30 minute drive. There are also many picturesque and historic small towns, castles and gardens to explore, and a host of fun-filled attractions for families nearby. The campsite is a part of the Greener Camping Club, this means that one guest per pitch must have a membership. This costs £12 per year and can be added on when booking and gives you access to over 160 eco campsites. This campsite does not allow dogs due to the surrounding farmland and wildlife, sorry. Each pitch has its own picnic bench, fire pit and cooking grid for campfires and BBQs.

Cilrath Wood Camping is open from 29/03 to 08/09.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities include two hot showers, compost toilets, a designated washing up area and wash basins. Environmentally friendly washing up liquid, soap and shampoo are also provided.

There are also covered communal areas for activities and evening get togethers, one has a fire pit too.

The campsite has it's own pure natural water supply and is eco-friendly and off-grid. Campers do have access to a shared fridge/freezer as well as USB charging points and there is also a flush toilet in the reception shed.

Each pitch comes with a wooden picnic bench and a fire bowl with grill. Logs can be purchased from the shed, as well as eggs when available and award winning fudge made on the farm.

The closest pub for meals out is Charlie's Celtic Tavern, which is under a 20 minute walk away or under a five minute drive. For a greater selection of pubs, eateries and takeaways head to Narberth, a five minute drive away. Here there is also a small supermarket and grocery shops for picking up the essentials.

A note from the site themselves...

My wife Jackie and I (fondly known as the "Grumpy Farmer") have had the honour of being the owner of our traditional Pembrokeshire farmstead for over 30 years. Guests can expect a warm welcome in stunning, natural surroundings we try our best to preserve.

We love the uninterrupted views of the Preseli Hills and surrounding countryside. Our tranquil haven is now an official wildlife conservation site with old pastures, semi-ancient woodland and several streams rising from springs on the farm that flow to a secluded small wildlife lake.

Our neighbours are birds, butterflies, dragonflies and frogs, as well as some larger animals like sheep and cows too. We have some ducks and chickens whose eggs you can often buy and a friendly border collie called Merry.

We hope to welcome you soon, Peter and Jackie
