Family camping

Keeping the whole family satisfied can be a tall order for holidaymakers. While there are many beaches along the Cornish coastline to entertain family members of all ages, you may yearn for something a little different during the course of your camping trip.

One idea which you may not have thought while planning your holiday is a day out at a family theme park with rides to rival some of the UK’s best venues. Here are three of the most popular theme parks in Cornwall to help you win some brownie points with the kids!

Crealy Great Adventure Park

This theme park, situated in Wadebridge just minutes from the A30, is Cornwall’s biggest and arguably most popular theme park. Awarded Best Cornwall Family Attraction by Primary Times, the Crealy Great Adventure Park has more than 40 fun-filled attractions for all weather conditions. All ages are catered for at Crealy with indoor and outdoor activities, an animal corner and a pre-school area for younger visitors. From thrilling fast rides such as The Beast and Viking Warrior to mellow attractions such as Old MacDonald’s Farm and Toddlers Village, there is something for everyone. There are six restaurants and cafes around the park where you can stop for food and drinks, including an ice cream parlour and the Lakeside BBQ and Bar.

Individual tickets cost £16.95, but you can save up to 20% if you purchase online. In addition to this online discount, families can also save a bit of cash by buying their tickets in packs of three, four or five. Peak season is between March 23rd and September 8th.

Flambards

Flambards provides a variety of fun and interesting exhibitions for all ages. Located a mile south east of Helston on the A384, the park is easily accessible by car or by bus. Set aside a full day during your holiday in order to fit in all of the thrill rides, children’s rides and indoor play areas. Flambards also has a range of award winning displays and interactive activities including The War Gallery, The Aviation Experience and its Hands on Science laser experience. Whether you want to step back in time, play in the present or see yourselves into the future, Flambards has something for you! Visitors can also look forward to a cheap and cheerful lunch in its cafeteria and fast food restaurant or relax in one of the picnic areas around the park.

Tickets are split into two categories, yellow and orange days. Yellow day adult tickets are £17.95 while children’s tickets are £12.50. These give you access to rides, exhibitions and event days. Orange day adult tickets, which include exhibition days only, are £10.50 while children get in for £5.95. Flambards also has its 5-Day Free Return ticket policy which allows the same person to return for a free or discounted price for another five days . Take a look on the website’s ‘Offers’ section for additional ways to save money. A number of campsites and caravan parks can be found at near the theme park at Helston.

Holywell Bay Fun Park

Although Holywell is not on the same scale as Crealy and Flambards, there are still enough rides and classic activities to keep all ages entertained. Some of the highlights include mini golf, go-karting, bumper style rides and indoor racing centre. The Beach Diner serves American favourites alongside an ice cream parlour. With beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, Woody’s is also on standby to satisfy hungry mouths.

Located near buzzing Newquay, visitors can find the park by following the A30 road, then the B3285 towards Perranporth before turning onto the A3075 for Holywell Bay. Guests can choose to either pay as they go on a free admission or purchase an adult or child fun pass at £15.95 and £12.95 respectively to enjoy day-long fun without the fuss. The park also has a saving ‘Star Deal’ system which is perfect if you want to enjoy the park for a few days. The deals can be picked up from reception. Campers will be pleased to know that there are a number of touring and holiday parks in the Holywell area in close proximity to Newquay’s beach fun.

Amazing theme parks may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a holiday in county famous for its beaches. We hope that we have given you insight into the action packed, family-friendly side of Cornwall and that you will check out these three theme parks on your next camping trip.
