More information

Camping and glamping pods come in all shapes and sizes, and are also variously known as camping huts, camping cabins, glamping huts, wooden pods, log pods, eco pods, holiday pods - and even pod cabins. However, whatever a campsite calls them, the facts are pretty similar.

At the most basic end of the market, a pod is effectively a wooden tent designed to save you the need to pitch your own while offering better protection from the weather. Cheaper pods will generally be unfurnished (literally camping without the tent), but most will have an electric socket, lighting and perhaps a heater.

Even at that level, with French doors opening out onto decking, it'll still be very civilised!

At the luxury end of the glamping pod market, you'll have kitchens, en-suite bathrooms, real beds - even separate bedrooms - and all mod cons. Perhaps even a hot tub!
