Flamingo Land rides

Everything you need to know about Flamingo Land rides

Situated in the village of Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire, Flamingo Land combines a theme park, a zoo and a resort. From the scream-worthy to the scenic and sedate, Flamingo Land rides offer something for the whole family, from young children to teens and adults. For an unforgettable family holiday, strap in and hold tight for an exciting ride through the world of Flamingo Land’s theme park.

Terrifically terrifying rides

Flamingo Land has a selection of rides that are not for the faint of heart. If you can’t get enough of rollercoasters, Mumbo Jumbo is the ride for you. This is the world’s steepest rollercoaster constructed out of steel and it features a stomach flop-inducing 112-degree vertical drop. Alternatively if you’ve wondered what it’s like to ride a superbike, Velocity will give you a pretty good idea. With the seats designed to look like motorbikes, Velocity is the only coaster of its kind in the UK and is the fastest and tallest motorbike launch coaster in the world. Accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 2.8 seconds, it is sure to satisfy a need for speed.

Fantastic family fun

It’s not just thrill seekers who are catered for in the theme park. There are many Flamingo Land rides designed for the whole family to enjoy together. The Lost River Ride for instance is a great way to view the zoo animals by taking a leisurely boat safari (a minimum height restriction of 1 metre applies for children accompanied by adults), though beware of a wet and wild finish! Dinosaur fans will love the dino-themed rides such as Cyclosoar, which combines flying and pedalling, or Dino Roller which is a great option for kids who have never been on a coaster before. There’s also a fun farm experience with the Muddy Duck Tractor Ride or you can take to the skies with the Wave Swinger.

Little ones aren’t left out either!

Flamingo Land doesn’t forget about the youngest members of the family, with a variety of kid friendly activities to ensure squeals of delight all round. From the animal-themed play area Children’s Planet to colourful carousels and the vertical drop ride Frog Hopper (parents don’t need to worry, it’s a gentle drop!), there are loads of attractions and rides that will keep young kids smiling.

Tickets and other events

You can save up to 10% by buying tickets online rather than at the gate. A single day ticket costs £27 online and is valid for one person (an adult or child at least four years old). A family ticket that can be used for two adults and two children or one adult and three children costs £92 online. Children three years old or younger get free entry. A two-day ticket for one person costs £40 online. There are also group tickets for £23, which required at least 12 people in the group. The Flamingo Land theme park and zoo is open from around mid-March to the start of November and is shut over winter.

Apart from the rides, there are other exciting events to enjoy at Flamingo Land, some free and others with an admission fee, including the likes of educational talks from zoo keepers, animal handling experiences and even the chance to learn what it’s like to be an animal trainer or a zoo keeper for the day. There is also a wide selection of dining venues within Flamingo Land to cater to the ravenous appetites of parents and their assortment of little animals too!

A host of entertaining attractions nearby to choose from

In addition to the amazing adventure offered by the great selection of Flamingo Land rides, there are numerous attractions nearby to include in your Yorkshire visit. Check out the kid friendly Castle Howard or the JORVIK Viking Centre about half an hour’s drive away. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway offers the chance to view beautiful scenery in a laidback, comfortable environment. For some added magic, you can even visit Goathland station on your train journey, which was featured as Hogsmeade station in the Harry Potter films. The good selection of camping and caravanning accommodation will help you to enjoy your holiday in family-friendly style.
