Wondering what to do on your holidays? Worried about keeping the kids entertained? Well look no further: check out these great things to do in Somerset with kids that provide brilliant fun for children of all ages.

Animal Farm Adventure Park

If your little monkeys love animals they’ll be right at home in the Animal Farm Adventure Park. The adventure park is home to a variety of lovely animals such as alpacas, goats, Shetland ponies, sheep, pigs, donkeys, ferrets, birds and cattle, some of which can be petted and fed during a visit. But there is even more fun on offer than just seeing and interacting with animals, there is also a great choice of rides and attractions for kids to get stuck into as well. Tickets are £7 for adults and £6.50 for children, with no charge for kids younger than 24 months.

South West Deer Rescue

For a day out your little dears won’t soon forget, take them to the South West Deer Rescue. There are a variety of deer species at the rescue and visitors are taken on a guided tour where they will have the opportunity to photograph, feed and touch these wonderful creatures. There is no entry charge but donations are greatly appreciated.

Wookey Hole Caves

The Wookey Hole Caves are sure to wow explorers young and old alike as they marvel at these vast and intriguing caverns that are millions of years old. There are more than only natural wonders to see here though, as the many manmade attractions will enchant visitors too. Brave youngsters can meet the Witch of Wookey Hole or have their minds boggled in the Magical Mirror Maze, while the delightful fairy garden and life-sized dinosaurs are just some of the other exciting things to discover. Online tickets cost £15.30 for adults and £10.20 for children, with no charge for kids younger than three years old.

Exmoor Pony Centre

The charming residents at the Exmoor Pony Centre will captivate visitors of all ages. A visit to the centre is the perfect opportunity to meet this rare breed of pony in person, plus there is no entry fee, though donations are very welcome as the centre is a charity that works at protecting and promoting the breed. In addition to meeting the ponies it is also possible to enjoy pony rides (a charge does apply for the rides). There is the option of a pony trek which is suitable for riders aged 11 and older who can trot and canter, while the taster sessions are suitable for riders aged 4 and older and are great for people with limited or no riding experience.

Brean Leisure Park

Brean Leisure Park has so much to see and do that no family member need miss out on exciting fun. The onsite theme park has rides and attractions to suit both younger and older children, with the option to purchase wristbands or pay-as-you-go tokens to suit your needs and preferences. Tokens are 50p each, while wristbands are £22.50 for visitors over 1.2 metres and £12 for visitors between 0.8 metres and 1.1 metres tall. The Brean Splash Waterpark is also sure to be a hit with visitors of all ages, with prices starting at £4.80 for visitors over 8 and £3 for visitors aged 3 to 7 during the low season.

Fashion Museum

The Fashion Museum in Bath offers a range of attractions to cater to younger and older children. There are a number of replica garments that kids will love trying on, as well as a variety of displays that provide insight into fashion across different time periods. Entry costs £8 per adult, £6 per child aged 16 or younger, and is free for children aged 5 or younger.

Dunster Castle

There is a lot to see inside and out at Dunster Castle, including beautiful subtropical gardens, the crypt and ghost room, as well as the numerous fascinating objects within the castle itself. Animal enthusiasts will enjoy finding out about the castle’s resident bats and the outdoor lawn games and log play area will make sure kids are tuckered out at the end of their visit. Standard entry for the whole property is £9.30 per adult and £4.60 per child.

The Willow Play Village

Just because you’re young, it doesn’t mean you should miss all the fun! The Willow Play Village is an indoor play centre that caters to various ages, with a separate area for children younger than 4 and a soft play area for kids under 1 year old. The café offers older kids and adults a place to relax while the younger family members go wild! Entry costs £5 for kids aged 4 and over, £4 for kids younger than 4 and £1.60 for kids younger than 1 who use the soft play area. Adult entry is £1.60, with one free adult admitted per child.

The Museum of Somerset

If you’re looking for an economical and kid-friendly day out that suits family members of all ages, try the Museum of Somerset in Taunton Castle. The museum is free to enter and has a variety of interesting displays so kids can learn while being entertained too. There are also family drop-in sessions for even more fun during a visit.

The North Somerset Butterfly House

Informative and sure to get hearts fluttering with excitement, a visit to the North Somerset Butterfly House is a fantastic day out for kids and adults of any age. This indoor attraction provides lots of fun during any weather and kids are sure to come out having learned a great deal about these lovely creatures. Plus, the butterflies will likely land on visitors too, which is a real treat! Adult entry costs £4.95 and entry for kids is £3.95.
