10 awesome things to do in Norfolk with kids

Kids are always looking for exciting ways to stay entertained. They love running, exploring, learning and laughing. On a holiday in Norfolk you will be spoilt for choice for thrilling activities for both them (and you) to enjoy! Here are 10 awesome things to do in Norfolk with kids.

1 BeWILDerwood

The work of local author Tom Blofeld inspired this imaginative and quirky adventure park, where you’ll find the character Swampy and his Marsh friends. In BeWILDerwood there are loads of magical treehouses to explore and climb, plus your little monkeys can learn how to build a den building and ride zipwires through the trees. Prices are worked out by height rather than age – watch out tall families!

Maybe instead you fancy staying in your own unique treehouse? See all of our treehouse holidays in Norfolk and feel completely immersed in nature.

2 Dinosaur Adventure

Lovers of animals both alive and extinct will really enjoy entering the world of dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Adventure Park near Lenwade. The whole family can follow the dinosaur trail through the woods, spotting their favourite dinosaurs amongst the trees. Next you can head to the animal barn to find some real-live creatures such as iguanas, snakes and water dragons. Or if you prefer animals to be cute and fluffy, try the Secret Animal Garden where you’ll find wallabies, sheep and goats. Child tickets are around £12 and under 3’s go free.

3 Pleasurewood Hills

There are large thrill rides such as Enigma, Wipeout and Fireball, and there are also many quieter rides for younger children. It’s a bit pricey, charging £19 for over 12s, but there are shows and events throughout the year – including Claude the Sea Lion and his friends putting on a splashing-ly good show!

The company have been running seal watching trips round the Norfolk coast since the 1960s and offer you the chance to see and learn all about both common and grey seals. The trips last 1 hour, or 1.5 hours if conditions allow a stop on Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, and cost £10 per adult, £5 for under 14s and children under 2 go free.

5 A Day Out at the Beach

Norfolk has many stunning sandy beaches you and your family can explore on your holiday (and really, no holiday would be complete without an afternoon by the beach!). Cromer is one of the best, with a small funfair and exciting pier to keep you entertained, as well as a lovely town to stroll around with a 99 ice cream in hand!

6 Blackbeard’s Adventure Golf

Take on Blackbeard in this pirate and Aztec themed 18-hole course. It’s a simple and fun way to spend an afternoon. You can find this golf activity in Hunstanton, next to the Sea Life Centre.

The landscape here is stunning, admission is just £3, and kids can enjoy a huge range of activities from go-karting and mountain biking to canoeing and windsurfing. You could just chill out by the lake or hire a small rowing boat and go out on the water while the kids go wild.

8 Lynn Museum

For a cultural excursion exploring incredible history, spend the day at the Lynn Museum in King’s Lynn. There is a lot to keep budding historians entertained and intrigued here, from life-size replica of Seahenge to a Saxon warrior’s skeleton. There are plenty of interesting trinkets to be found in Nelson’s memorabilia, and a beautiful example of Savage’s fairground carousel. Adult tickets cost £3.50, and children between 4 and 16 cost £1.90.

Active families will enjoy seeing more of Norfolk’s incredible landscapes by bicycle. Many campsites allow you to bring bicycles, but if you have no way to transport yours there is also the option of hiring them. ‘On Yer Bike’ offers cycle hire from £5 an hour.
