5 really fun activities in Cornwall

There are lots of fun activities in Cornwall that'll get your heart pumping, so if you are looking for an adventure holiday that involves new and exciting things, then Cornwall is a great location.

Here are five fantastic ideas.

1. Coasteering

Coasteering is exhilarating. You'll swim along the base of cliffs, explore caves, crags and unusual rocks formations, enjoy scrambling and cliff jumping (optional for those afraid of heights!).

A 2-6 hour coasteering session with Active Cornwall who provide sessions at various locations in Cornwall such as Harlyn, Bude, Whitsand Bay and Newquay range from around £30-£45 per person, but some sessions offer discounted family rates.

You'll be thoroughly briefed on health and safety, and wet suits and helmets will be provided. The fully-trained and knowledgeable staff are on hand to guide you, and you can rest assured you’ll have a blast!

Coasteering is suitable for children over 10 years old, but kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

2. Surfing

Cornwall is a surfer's paradise, with miles and miles of stunning coastline perfect for trying out this fun water sport. Surf Cornwall provides a wealth of information about surfing and if you would like to take a course first, many of Cornwall’s surf school are run by professional or ex-professional surfers, so you’ll be in very good hands whichever school you choose.

Falmouth surf school offers courses specifically for families such as the 'Family Taster Special' for a minimum of 4 people which costs £80, as well as half-day courses and weekend courses at varying costs. The school provides transport to where the best waves are on the day and provide all equipment such as wetsuits and surfboards.

Freewave Surf Academy in Bude is also highly recommended for its taster sessions and all day packages which include lunch at The Beach House. Prices range from around £25-£60 per person depending on the type of course.

Bude is a particular favourite of ours, so why not stay at Widemouth Bay and bone up on how to read the local surf reports before you go?

3. Adrenaline Quarry

Adrenaline Quarry is one of Cornwall’s most highly acclaimed adventure activity centres, offering everything from coasteering to surfing, quad biking to zip wiring and suitable for all ages!

The highlight at the centre is undoubtedly The Zip - a 490 metre long, 50 metre high zip wire experience where you can reach speeds of 40mph!

Suitable for kids and adults alike, you'll get a thrilling ride above the quarry lake and unbeatable views of the natural surroundings.

If that’s not enough, try out The Giant Swing which swings 3 people at a time 150 ft above water - a superb experience for adrenaline lovers!

Kids as young as 5 can ride the swing and there is no need to book for this or The Zip - just turn up and have fun!
