Horsley Lodge

The golf course at Horsley Lodge in the small village of Horsley is regarded as one of the finest courses in Derbyshire. The course sits at the gateway of the Derwent Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site and comprises of magnificent parkland, water features and small, quaint bridges leading across streams with a stunning hotel backdrop.

The course is 1 of only 2 courses in the East Midlands that have been built to USGA Standards. Green fees start from £45 for visitors and there is also a newly built, floodlit driving range for practising those swings! Up at the hotel there is excellent food served in the restaurant and dining room.

Burton-on-Trent

Burton-on-Trent Golf Club has over 100 years of competitive play and is set in 150 acres of tranquil woodland near the village of Bretby. The course is challenging for beginners: the 18th hole requires a skilful shot over the lake but nonetheless provides an enjoyable game for all.

The course has gained a good reputation for the quality of its firm, fast greens and the clubhouse provides a warm and friendly atmosphere for you to relax in afterwards. Green fees begin from £22 per person and the bar and restaurant serves a variety of good food.

Cavendish

Cavendish Golf Club opened in 1925 and was designed by the famous course architect Alister Mackenzie. This hilly course provides incredible views of the Peak District, is in great condition and has a reputation for being a real treat to play.

The clubhouse offers a comfortable place to sit and relax, enjoy refreshments and look out across the Derbyshire valleys. Green fees are £15 during the winter months and around £17.50-£40 at other times depending on the day and time of year.

Matlock

Matlock Golf Club is built on beautiful moorland on the edge of the Peak District and offers an 18-hole course and fully-equipped driving range. The course boasts some wonderful scenery and backdrops in which to play your game. The terrain here will keep players challenged and interested. You’ll also see a variety of birdlife and small mammals as well as wild orchids and other flora and fauna.

The clubhouse provides a bar and restaurant with great food. Green fees are around £35 midweek and £40 at the weekend with prices reducing during the winter months.

Buxton and High Peak

Buxton and High Peak Golf Club is located close to the beautiful spa town of Buxton. The club is one of Derbyshire’s oldest, dating back to 1887, and provides a somewhat challenging game influenced by prevailing winds.

The clubhouse has spectacular views over the fairways and surrounding hillside and serves up great local food and drink in the friendly, comfortable bar. Green fees start from around £20 going up to £32 depending on what day you go.

Kedleston Park

Kedleston Park Golf Club is set in 155 acres of beautiful historic parkland surrounding the spectacular Kedleston Hall http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/kedleston-hall/. This amazing stately home provides a superb backdrop to this immaculate and interesting course.

The clubhouse serves excellent food in its bar and restaurant and there is a patio where you can enjoy the views. Green fees start at about £40 mid-week and £50 at weekends.

Derbyshire offers some amazing golf experiences and makes an ideal holiday destination for people who love the outdoors, with the whole of the Peak District to explore.
