VW-Type Campervan - Electric Campervan PitchesAug 2024

Brook Farm is very well located near Canterbury and surrounded by nature and forest. This place could be great. Unfortunately, it is not maintained, especially the facilities that I feel are in poor condition and not maintained. The place to do the dishes is very dirty, we think it is never washed, and most of the sinks don't work. It is also the place where we should wash ourselves but there should be different places for that! The roof on this shed is falling. The toilets were relatively clean, but the floor and bin were dirty. There is a little sink in each toilets but some don't work and there was no soap left in the dispensers and nothing to wipe hands. The showers are relatively clean and there is only a little hook for the clothes, but it is not enough or practical. We would advise to add more hooks and also a bench. With more maintenance on the facilities and the place in general, Brook Farm could be a very nice place to stay. Unfortunately, in these conditions, we won't come back.

Site's response

Hi there, thank you very much for staying with us. I'm struggling to comprehend this as our toilets and showers and washing up areas are cleaned 2/3 times daily! Perhaps you came over bank holiday which was our busiest period, but even then, we ensured everything was kept clean. 3/5 of our washing up taps are functional currently whilst we wait for a new water heater for the additional 2. One tap in the toilets was broken by a camper whilst you stayed on site, otherwise, all the taps in the toilets work and all our soap dispensers work, as do our toilet roll dispensers too! We are on a farm, so if you have to shake your hands after washing them I do apologise! Benches are currently being produced to be placed in the large shower cubicles but ultimately, the hook is usually sufficient. I would suggest you don't return, as our family friendly site will always be rustic, but we strive to improve, constantly adding additional features to enhance everyone's experience with us. Best regards.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

We came here for 2 nights to see how my daughter and dog liked camping! It is a lovely campsite, toilet and showers do the job and the animals are a lovely touch. The campsite had a nice friendly atmosphere and was nice and quiet throughout the night! Loved hearing the animals in the morning, especially the cockerel letting me know that the day had arrived! We hired the firepit, which was a fab touch. We would definitely return!

A lovely place to stay

A lovely welcoming campsite within easy reach of Whitstable, Canterbury and Hearne Bay to mention just a few places. It is worth noting on the farm side of things that there is a cockerel that doesn't understand campers are on holiday with its early morning wake up call 😂🤣 A noticeboard with local advertised events, along with a map of local footpaths (especially the crab and winkle way) and bus stops too.

Nice stop

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

A nice farm with animals in the field with you. They were annoyed with us at check in that we were "2 hours late", however pre-trip paperwork had only outlined the earliest possible arrival and not a cut off. Their reasoning being that we would disturb the families putting their kids to bed. However, I'm sure they would have been more disturbed by the group two tents down playing club music until 11pm! The toilets didn't always have working water and soap, and I would have preferred them to be single gender. However, now that we know these things, we would stay again and factor this into our planning.

Site's response

Thank you for your review, unfortunately arriving after 9pm on a busy weekend isn't advisable. From setting your tent up in the dark, to trying to find an appropriate pitch, it just doesn't work. Low volume music is allowed up until 11pm along with fires too. Thank you for staying with us.

Brilliant stay at Brook Farm, James and Robin are very good hosts, café onsite very useful and the availability of pizzas were a welcome tasty surprise when we arrived. Only thing that lets the site down is toilet and shower facilities which are basic and I understand are in the process of being upgraded.

Friendly and charming, a lovely site

I had a lovely pitch backed onto the animals (sheep goats and chickens) with a view over fields. Nice hot shower in the morning was a nice surprise. Lots of families camping so if you're an adult looking for peace and quiet, then probably not for you, but all the kids were having the time of their lives feeding the animals. Pizza available the night I arrived and a guided 5k run. I really enjoyed it. The young guys that run it are very welcoming and have created a friendly, relaxed and fun environment.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

The campsite was in a lovely location with great views, really close to Blean Woods which is a lovely walk. It was really clean and nicely spaced out, lots of room. However, the shower/ toilet facility was poor as there was a distinctive smell of grey water where the tank was overflowing, leaving pools of grey water around the facilities. The toilets were all backed up and were not cleaned or restocked with toilet roll. This resulted in only 2 being accessible. The showers were not cleaned as they were full of cobwebs and dirt, and didn't drain properly due to the tank being full.

Site's response

Hi Megan, Thank you for your review. Unfortunately following a busy and extremely hot weekend there were a few unpleasant smells emanating from the tank. However I can assure you our grey water and waste tanks are emptied multiple times a week to ensure this isn't the case and there isn't any overflowing occurring! The toilets and showers are cleaned and serviced usually twice a day and also restocked with toilet roll and soap so I apologise on this occasion they were not at their usual standard. Nonetheless we hope you had a fantastic stay in the wonderful sunshine out in the countryside!

We had a lovely stay at Brook Farm. The campsite was spacious and relaxed. It was full whilst we were there but didn't feel overcrowded at all. It had a great atmosphere. We enjoyed really yummy pizzas on Friday night from the owners. Our young children loved the animals and joined in with the feeding. We will definitely be back and would thoroughly recommend it. Toilet block/sink area could use some TLC and some more sinks for people to brush their teeth. Thanks for having us!

Great little campsite near Whitstable

A fab little campsite with animals and a little food hut. Great pizzas at the weekend! Close to Whitstable, so super convenient for day trips to seaside. Right next to Blean woods so plenty of walks, runs and adventures on your tent step! Highly recommend.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

We had a wonderful time at Brook Farm! It was very quiet and relaxing for the most part (obviously the occasional campers are extra happy, but the staff were quick to tell them lights out when it got late). It felt safe and friendly, and I was happy to let my little girl run around and make friends, pop to the tuck shop and more. Our pitch was well maintained, and very private-feeling. On Saturday, my little girl got to feed the sheep! The toilet and shower facilities are mostly clean, but of course on busier days that's harder to keep up with, and whilst basic they did the trick! It is a quiet and secluded site but I booked it for this reason! There isn't anything in the way of climbing frames or anything for the kids, but again, I already knew this and packed activities to keep her amused. The owners are super friendly, helpful, and very present. They cook pizzas in the evenings at the weekend, but make sure to pre-order! They look delicious. We will definitely be back soon!

We had a fabulous stay and the hosts were so kind and welcoming. Delicious pizza night, and a scrumptious crepe from the cafe. The kids loved the animals and we had such a good time that we stayed an extra night!

Lovely site, we only stayed on night on the way to Dover to get the ferry. Compact grass site, with basic facilities. Kids loved being close to the animals, although the cockerel at 5am wasn't so great! Only issue was the pressure in the showers (too high so felt quite painful!) Would stay again.

We had a really nice stay at Brook Farm for three nights. The campsite was in a really good location and only a short drive from Whitstable and Canterbury. James was really nice and helpful, the pizzas and coffee were also really good! It was ideal we couldn't fault it and will definitely be returning.

Booked Brook Farm as a last minute find for a long weekend and wow, what a fantastic little place! Such joy and fun for our little boy. He adored the animals on the site to be able to feed and interact with. Highly recommend for any family get away. The pizza on site was amazing! Even though we had plenty with us, we couldn't help going back for more on our second night. Yummy! The little café is also such a good addition to the site. Was a super hot weekend and loved being able to get an iced coffee in the morning and some ice cream during the day to cool us all down. If wanting something for lunch, the toasties are very scrumptious too. The facilities are basic but provides what you need! Clean, flushing toilets and hot showers. We have stayed at similar priced sites and this was the only downside, but the amazing owners that are on site for all your needs and super friendly and helpful, along with the pure happiness this place brought to my boy and to us makes up for this. You will not regret staying here! We feel this place will become a long term go to escape for forever more, and look forward to seeing this site grow as only been open 4 years and the owners have great plans!

Good site, ideal location for visits in the area

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Campervan PitchesJul 2024

Good site, ideal location for visits in the area. However, the facilities were very poor. We had no hot water in the washing up area for 3 nights. The showers seemed to have waste water coming up the waste pipe. There is nowhere with hot water to have a wash or shave. The showers were okay, but green waste water came up from the waste pipe. On the plus side the camping field is very good and has pens with goats, sheep and chickens, which all the children enjoyed, which was good because there is no playground with apparatus for them to enjoy.

Fantastic campsite, great value. James (the host) was so kind and welcoming, couldn't fault him at all. He cooks pizzas on Fridays and Saturdays which are reasonably priced and delicious, would absolutely recommend. The location was ideal, a short drive to beautiful Whitstable and Canterbury. The only thing that could be improved was the toilets and showers - they were perfectly fine, but could definitely be nicer! I'm pretty sure that's something he said they're working on, so we can't wait to return when they do!

We had a really good couple of nights stay at Brook Farm. Very quiet location, showers were nice and hot. Toilets need attention, but I think it's a work in progress. Would be nice for some instructions/direction of what to do when you get to the site, as when we arrived through the gates, we didn't know where to go. But this didn't stop the great weekend!
