This site is so peaceful, amazing views across the loch and to hills. The pitches were a good distance apart so it felt more private. There is a road right next to site but the pitches are far enough from the road that we didn't even notice the traffic but it wasn't a busy road we stayed on the Saturday night. The facilities are clean and tidy. There is a good footpath/cycle track along the road we had a lovely walk and it was safe. Absolutely loved this site and will return again.

Really lovely location. Water point by electric which was very convenient. Could do with laundry facilities. Honestly box by reception lovely.

Site's response

Thanks for your lovely comments. We do have a wee laundry on the opposite side of the road near the old station - so sorry you were not aware of it! Yes the honesty box is fab if a little to close to my office for the waistline x Julie and Jim

Fab site, beautiful scenery in every direction. Very quiet and peaceful, polite staff. Site well kept, loads of space between vans. We were down by the loch it was so tranquil, just the best. We will definitely return next year, hopefully for a longer break. Site is perfect for onward visits to Oban, Fort William and Glen Coe. There's much more to see and do. Will recommend to friends and family.

Site's response

Thank you Bob we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are extending the lochside site over winter hopefully you will notice wee improvements next year. Jim and Julie

Great little site in a fantastic location. The supplied firepit was full on our arrival which was a lovely touch. The pub is only a 5 min walk with a large path direct from the campsite. Will be back!

Excellent pub within walking distance.

The best thing about the site was the proximity to the pub! The Cregan Arms served excellent food and the service was outstanding. The site itself was basic but despite looking like a shed, the toilet was like someone's downstairs loo and the shower was temperature controlled and powerful. We didn't see anyone from the site although we didn't arrive late - pitches were labelled but it did mean we didn't get the code to access the bins or service point. Wasn't an issue to us but could have been. The pitch was spacious and right on the lochside with gorgeous views.

This was a lovely site, the views were fantastic from our pitch on the Loch. Walked along to the pub just up the road for a drink. There are two toilets and two showers. Nice and clean, no issues. The weather is changeable, so a bit more shelter over the pot washing area would be good. But no complaints, really enjoyed our stay here.

Lovely old train station made into campsite. On both sides of the road. The views are stunning. Very quiet even though near a road. Have made the station into a cosy place to chill and have a hot drink. Toilet and shower are in the process of being updated but loved that the shower was adjustable and didn't have to keep pressing! In a shed for now, that's why 4 stars not 5. Near a hotel where you can walk to for dinner. Lovely and dark at night. No light pollution. Had a lovely walk. Pitch was marked out with your name so you can just drive up there, find your pitch and park up.

VW-Type Campervan - Small Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2024

We stayed one night on our way to Oban. The site was easy to find and the paperwork received in advance was very through. We had no issues finding out pitch. The views from the upper levels are insanely beautiful. We were blessed with amazing weather in Sept but that also meant as soon as you turned on a light, we had lots of midges. Only one unisex shower on the upper level, which can mean some queuing at busy times - but there is a separate toilet thankfully. It was very dog friendly and there are plenty of walks around camp. We ate at the Old Inn Appin, the outside of the pub looks very unkempt, we'd have driven on if we hadn't have read the reviews first. Amazing views over Castle Stalker and beyond. Amazing sunset and the steaks were stunning! Really recommend but you would need to book in advance.

After reading a few of the reviews, we were expecting substandard facilities, but was pleasantly surprised to find everything was great on the Lochside campsite. Toilets were spacious and the waste disposal facilities were as good as most other sites. The pitches themselves were huge with water and electric on each of the pitches. A 10 out of 10 for the site from us.

Stayed here for a night before catching the ferry to Barra. Really nice site with a good feel about it. Nice walk to the local pub with beautiful views over the loch. Very quiet site, even with the road nearby. Will definitely be back again!
