Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

We camped here last weekend. We had a few small requests and the staff were really helpful in sorting them (forgotten lighter for the bbq etc!) We went paddle boarding one day and had to change the time of our arrival and the staff (Ian in particular) were more than helpful sorting everything out for us. The facilities were very clean. The site wasn't anything like overcrowded, we were welcome to pitch up anywhere that suited us. There's no light pollution here either, so if you enjoy stargazing it is the perfect spot - we even saw the Northern Lights here!

Fantastic location and peaceful

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Really nice campsite if your looking for peace and quiet and the feeling of being out in the wild with the convenience of amenities. Stayed for one night on a non electric pitch with my dog. Loads of space on each pitch, pitches are not allocated so you can go on which ever suits. Ground well maintained, amenities good and clean (showers, toilets, fire pits and logs). I would think that this would be suitable for families as well as solo/couples of all ages as there are bikes to hire, forest trails nearby and you can also go on Loch Ken with a variety of water sports equipment to hire. Overall really enjoyed my stay, so did my dog (loads of room for them to roam around without being on other people's pitches) only thing that let it down a little was the usual British weather!!

Fantastic stay

Pod - Apex Glamping Pods (Pet Friendly)May 2024

Absolutely loved my 2 night stay, kids had a fun time as well. We went exploring to the abandoned castle, it was great. No technology for children which was good.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back. It's basically help yourself to a pitch when you arrive which is great, avoids the rows of tents side by side that other parks go for. Bumped into Michelle not long after arriving who couldn't have been any friendlier. There are fire pits dotted all round the campsite which are there for anyone to use. They also come round and sell bags of firewood for £10 which comes complete with kindling and firelighters which is really handy. New toilet block has just been installed with individual toilets and showers rather than the communal areas some parks have.

Fantastic campsite

Pod - Apex Glamping Pods (Pet Friendly)May 2024

We recently stayed at Hensol Estate for a family trip away and absolutely loved it. The camping site was well cared for and facilities were clean and well looked after. We stayed in the camping pod which had a lovely view overlooking the field and although there were others around, they were well laid out so you still had your own privacy. The grounds around the estate were lovely with nice walks around the Loch. We also made use of their water sports and enjoyed taking the kids out on the canoe. It was a must do whilst there. I also have to mention the owners, who went out of their way to make sure that everyone on site was well looked after. Nothing was too much for them. They sorted out the boat when we wanted to go out, brought wood around to sell for anyone that needed it etc. They were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend staying here.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Absolutely beautiful site, was so peaceful and tranquil. The owners were lovely and went out of there way to help you with anything. Lots of beautiful walks and you can launch your own paddleboard £5 charge for the day. You could also hire paddleboards, kayaks, canoes and even have lessons. I highly recommend this site, was so lovely, very clean and brand new toilets/showers which were always very clean. They have fire pits all around the site (free to use) and they come round in the evening selling logs if needed. Definitely will return.

Beautiful campsite with great facilities

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass and Gravel PitchesMay 2024

Great location, gravel and grass pitch very flat and spacious enough. Showers hot, clean and free! Can borrow a firepit and buy dry logs for £10 which was lovely. The camping sites (no electric) were amazing, very spread out across an undulating field, so great views for all. Can cycle direct from the site down a disused railway and also through the estate grounds and along to RSPB hides. Lovely spot for an away from it all holiday!

Perfect stop over

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass and Gravel PitchesApr 2024

This was everything and more (showers and logs for sale). We had a 1 night stop over on our way to watch our son play rugby on the Sunday. The fire pits which were available were fantastic, saved us looking ours out the van. It was amazing how dark it was, perfect for viewing the stars and we even saw a couple of shooting stars. We will be back during the summer to enjoy this estate more.
