Clear filters Ruined holiday by drunken noisy campers Jul 2025 Holiday ruined by noisy campers swearing and shouting until way past midnight, then from 6am. No one on site to police it.
Completely destroyed a beautiful idyllic camping setting.
Hidden getaway Recommends site
Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 This was our first visit and not sure if we would return.
The site is reached down a rough single track road which is very narrow with overgrown trees/bushes which scratch the side of the caravan. The pool was a bonus, nice and warm and I agree with the booking system, this way, everyone gets a chance to use it. The toilets were clean.
The showers were clean and spacious but the water temperature under par. The setting was nice around the marina. Small children's play area. Nice bar and restaurant on site. The pitches are snug. Once there, you would need to drive out to places as nothing in the immediate vicinity. .
Paid for 3 nights and stayed for 2. Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 Arrived during torrential rain and the very muddy single track road was a big put off in a Motorhome.
Very little to do there if you don't have a car or children with you. Facilities not very clean and toilet seats missing. Not for us.
What a great find! Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 Great location, showers and toilet facilities excellent, nice bar serving food, good size indoor pool - marina picturesque. Staff in reception and bar very helpful.
Lovely stay Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 We had a lovely stay at Waveney, everywhere was spotless, the restaurant food was good and thankfully due to the rain putting the terrace out of action dog friendly.
The only down side was there are no dog walks from the site, thought there might be a riverside walk from the marina but gated off due to it being part of the wild life sanctuary. No ferry running so no access to the one walk there is on the other side of the river. But we would return, if you want just to chill out and have peace and quiet this is the site.
Great stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Great place for family stays but you will need a car to go places as it's deep in nature.
We loved the pool, the boating, the playground, and the nice pitch locations. Bring a boat or kayak to get on the water and enjoy the seeing the birds fly overhead. Ensure to bring supplies as it's too far to nip out to the shops.
Hidden gem of camping Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Moorhen Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 Lovely and quiet site in the country side. We really enjoyed our stay there and we will definitely will be back in the future.
Such a a lovely site. The best thing about it was that it wasn't too busy.
I stayed just one night then left Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 Avoid this site if you have an 8ft wide caravan and expect a high standard of facilities. I stayed just one night, then left.
The minor road to reach the site is overgrown with tall bushes which badly scratched all side windows on the van. Once you start, the only option is to keep going (then you have to return the same way). On arrival, the Kingfisher pitch is so small and confined, there is no walking room around the side of the van or awning. Being surrounded by tall, overgrown hedges/bushes, assuming you have room to erect it.
The car must stay out in front of the caravan, on the road. The facilities are run down, smelly, broken seats, not a good standard, with the separate block for the site being worse. I found it so disappointing on arrival that I forfeited my remaining 10 nights and left next morning for another site, a very substantial loss, although the staff did indicate that they would see what they could do, after raising all the above points with them before I left site.
On a positive note, the pool was good, the location good (albeit remote), and the staff helpful.
This has the potential to be a good site if these point were to be addressed.
Great place to stay Recommends site
Small Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Great site. Nice bar and great food.

Thanks Jamie! :) We hope to welcome you again soon.
Outstanding Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 The staff at Waveney River centre were outstanding, from the bar staff to the staff working around the slipway.
Always had a smile and offers of help when needed.
Good solid choice Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 Two day minibreak with two small children, it all went pretty well. On arrival there was no one to help pilot us in, the tourer area is well away from reception, so had to park up blocking the access road while my wife went off to find which pitch we were on.
Top Tip... Before you arrive, ring the site and ask what's your pitch number.
The access road is also a real pain, the last couple of miles especially can make you sweat, as if anything comes the other way then there's certain stretches where there's just no way to get past.
Apart from that, this is a good site, very pleasant and picturesque location, and the facilities are pretty good..
I would come here again...
Very enjoyable stay, perfect as a dinghy sailing base Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Moorhen Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 An excellent base for sailing on the Southern Broads, esp. close to Oulton Broad.
Good facilities, well maintained. Nice quiet site on my visit.
My stay RV - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 It was a very nice campsite.
Facilities were very good. Lilac trees all around, smells were wonderful. Very good facilities. The food in the restaurant and bar was excellent, the only downside was the mobile signal - no signal, no TV but apart from that, we had a wonderful few days away.
My holiday Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 The only thing I was unhappy with was the bar and restaurant shut at 9-o'clock and at 8-30 told last orders at bar.
And being told open later when summer holidays start as if this wasn't our holiday.
Great stay!! Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Moorhen Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2025 Had a lovely time, really enjoyed it, great facilities.
Peaceful Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 Lovely place to stay and relax, site was lovely and clean, so were the toilets and showers.
Pub closes at 9pm and they stop serving food at 8pm, but can't complain, food was really good. Very narrow road to get to the site, be wary of on coming traffic.

Lovely site but a bit remote Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 Lots of amenities on site but it's a shame you cannot walk along river bank or road as they are so narrow. Need to use a vehicle to get about.
Site's response
Hi Val
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We do offer a ferry service here at WRC where you can get to the other side of the river where you can enjoy a walk! :)

Back of beyond and a bit further! Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2025 Nice site, but very rural. No takeaways or shops within 5 or 6 miles. There was a bar/pub food on site and the usual shop with limited items. There is an indoor pool and playground for children.
Beautiful old church next to site, be sure to visit, paperbacks inside for church funds if short of reading material. Ok if you don't want to go off site. Particularly limiting if you are in a campervan. Great view from pitch Kingfisher, fully serviced. Nice pub 2/3 miles Wheatacre White Lion but too far to walk. It might suit some but not us.
Peace and quiet Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 Peace and quiet. This site is in a remote location but oh so lovely. The facilities are spotless .The site is nicely laid out too.
We did not eat at restaurant on site but did enjoy the drinks from the bar just sitting watching the wildlife.
The only downside is site information and map are sent via email. I did not receive this until I checked in, despite receptionist saying it was sent. I think the map of the site should be printed off and given to guests on arrival.

Very peaceful and worth the trek up single tracks Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 The campsite as it is out of the way is very peaceful. The grounds are kept nice, hopefully some of the decking will get replaced.
There's a nice lot of wildlife, and you can get the foot ferry to the other side of the river and enjoy the nature reserve leading onto a large visitor centre for adults, kids and dogs 40 minute walk approx. friendly staff on site. There is an unusual looking old church there too.
Nice site but the approach road is not good Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 The site is nice a clean and quiet but the road to it is very narrow with very few passing places.
The pitches are only just wide enough for a motorhome and awning not much more space to sit beside your awning. Each pitch has hedging each side.
Toilets and shower all clean but in the gents toilet one toilet seat was missing all the time we were there.
Not many footpaths to walk near the site but if you can get over the river to the nature reserve there are plenty there but whilst we were there the ferry did not operate any day.
Would we go back to this site - the answer is no.
Site's response
Dear David
Many thanks for your honest review, we welcome all feedback as it helps us to improve our services going forward.
We have two entrances into Waveney River Centre, one that is very narrow with little passing places, and one that is much wider with passing places every few yards. We certainly recommend the latter.
We hope that we can welcome you back again to Waveney River Centre.

Our first run out of the year in our campervan Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 Waveney River Centre is a beautiful place to stay, surrounded by lovely countryside and the river.
The facilities were good as was the bar.
We will be heading back soon.
Touring caravan stay with friends Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2025 The swimming pool and also the campsite toilet/shower block were not clean and looked tired.
Hedges were not trimmed. Lots of details that showed a lack of maintenance. Won't stay again. Shame because location and view from touring pitch is quite nice.
Lovely quiet site Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jun 2025 Lovely quiet site, need a car to get out and about.
Pros and cons Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Heron Touring Pitches Jun 2025 First the good bits! The facilities were very clean and reception etc were very helpful. It was very quiet and relaxing.
The Inn on site had lovely food and drink and it was nice to sit and watch the wildlife (deer, barn owl and local small birds). Secondly, the niggly bits. We found the pitch (Heron no: 2) quite cramped, hemmed in by hedges either side and not enough room to open the awning. There was plenty of space on the Kingfisher pitches however.
We had a lot of trouble getting the Wi-Fi sorted out (pre payed) and the receptionist helped with this. We think we received a partial refund but it was also turned off early! Lastly, a missing toilet seat in the gents! I was desperate and had to sit on the porcelain!
