VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesFeb 2023

Hobby farm was an excellent find for our first weekend in our campervan. Easy to find, easy to book and self check in and out. Great, quiet and small location with lovely views, yet only 5 minutes off the main road, 10 to the beach, 15 to Lyme Regis. Facilities are good - Clean loos, hot showers and good washing up facilities. The site also has some fire pits to grab and if you forget to bring logs they'll do you a bag for a fiver. Spots for tents/camper vans are nicely spaced out, and although there were only a few others there, even at max capacity this would still be spacious as it's well laid out. WE WILL BE BACK!

Fantastic place.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

We had a wonderful, peaceful stay here. It was so quiet and relaxing. The facilities are clean and very nice. The showers were great, and there is a fridge freezer too. There are wonderful views and the village nearby is beautiful. It's just 5 mins walk. Lyme Regis is an easy drive away. We will be back !

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

Quiet and intimate with a beautiful view over the countryside. Nice showers and little washing up area. Pub nearby, which was ok but nothing to write home about. Logs and burner box provided for £5, which was a nice touch.

Very quiet

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2023

Needed a place to chillax away from kids, I do love kids too though! Hot showers, toilets, flat pitches, even fridge/freezer. This is all I need to set my tent and chill. Lyme Regis / Bridport is about 15 to 20 mins drive. Bought some seafood from the local fishmongers and did a BBQ - perfect!

Would be nice to have a hook to hang your towel in the toilets - otherwise, perfect for what we wanted.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesJun 2023

This site is probably not for everyone, but I have given it 5* throughout because for those it does suit, it is magical. A small site down a very narrow road, into a large grassy field surrounded by breathtaking scenery. There are three showers and toilets in a small purpose built block which are immaculate, wash up facilities and waste disposal (but no play park for children.) The village is just a ten minute walk away, no shops, but a super pub. For the first five minutes I wasn't sure and then I melted into it and was really sorry to have to leave. Will definitely return.

A lovely site but a few things need attention

Shepherd's Hut - Badger's Retreat Shepherd's HutMay 2023

A lovely location but there are a few things requiring attention in the shepherd's hut. A dinner plate was chipped, resulting in a cut finger whilst washing it up (see picture below). There was only 1 chair on the decking, and this had a broken/missing slat, and the smoke detector had been removed. In addition, being on the short side, it would be really helpful to have a small step to aid getting in and out of the raised bed.

Site's response

We are really sorry that you experienced these things (especially the cut finger) but now that we are aware of the broken chair and chipped plate, we have ordered a new table set and plates which will arrive later today. Thank you for pointing these things out to us.

Disappointing

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2023

Very few flat areas to park, it seemed to be a free for all. Shower started hot then went cold. Disappointed and won't be returning.

Site's response

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay and do indicate that the camping field is not a bowling green. We are a rural site of just 14 pitches in 3 acres and very surprised you couldn't find suitable place to pitch and we have 4 showers to choose from..

Just wonderful

Site was quiet and very peaceful despite there being several other campers. The vista was lovely and we enjoyed sunshine and birdsong throughout our stay. Showers were free, clean and warm. Toilets clean too. Exactly what we wanted, would happily recommend.

Lovely stay!! Great location close to beaches and countryside walks. Campsite has separate pitches, bathrooms with hot showers, kitchens with sinks and hot taps and communal fridges. Easy to find and choice of spot on arrival. Will visit again 😊

Shepherd's Hut - The Fox's Den Shepherd's HutSep 2021

I found exactly what I was looking for - a peaceful rest in beautiful surroundings. The hut was well equipped and clean and I could sit in bed and watch the kingfishers on the lake. Close to lovely coastal towns to visit. I would say that heading to the loo across the field in the night was not ideal but still way more luxurious than being in a tent. This would not put me off staying again!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2021

Although we have camped many times in Dorset, this was the first time we had camped at Hobby Farm. The campsite is situated in nice countryside and is accessed through some fairly typical Dorset narrow lanes, so drive with caution! We found the campsite generally nice and peaceful with most campers turning in around 11 pm, so no noise issues. Pitches were fairly generous, however although it was stated that the pitches were limited to a certain number, we found that on certain days (perhaps changeover days) there were more pitches taken. Overall a campsite to recommend, although I would comment that the above point should be addressed and it would benefit all by having an additional couple of toilets and showers.

Lovely campsite in a beautiful and tranquil location
