Marton House Campsite is set on a working farm and nestled into glorious Shropshire countryside. It's dog friendly and open all year including Christmas and New Year. Welcoming adults and members only, it's a handy base for exploring the Welsh Borders.
This is a simple site with the emphasis on space, seclusion and enjoying the ebb and flow of agricultural activities. Lambs in spring, haymaking in June and watching the grass grow over the summer. If you are after a more active break then you're in a great place for the sights of North Shropshire and the borderlands of Wales. On this secluded campsite there are three hardstanding and two grass pitches, each with a total space of 9m wide x 6m deep approx. All are accessed by a hard track, so no getting stuck because of the British weather. Because there is plenty of space, it's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. It will never feel busy, with a maximum of four people per pitch. The site is set right back off the road and is a generous 0.72 acres. Each pitch has a metered hookup and, to help reduce lugging that water container around, a water hook-up. There are zero miles eggs for sale and a variety of seasonal home grown produce from the veg patch, greenhouse and orchard. All campers know that the view from the awning is important so that is why the pitches are all set. No one can pitch up in the wrong place and spoil the vista. This is a Camping and Caravanning Club members only site, but don't let that stop you. Joining is very easy and it allows you to access all the wonderful things that the club has to offer.

For the walkers, there is a bridle way straight off the farm and up the fields and a little further, the Shropshire Way. There is also the Mosses and Meres of North Shropshire, which are a short drive away and are a very special and unique place to explore.
There are miles of quiet country lanes to glide over on your bike, just turn right out of the drive entrance.
For keen fishers there are several fishing pools, the nearest being Merrington Carp Fishery, just 16 minutes away.
Shrewsbury (where Darwin went to school!) is about 20 minutes away by car. This is a beautiful medieval town that has been shaped by the River Severn. A wonderful walk following the river in its natural loop around the town can easily lead to a glass of wine in one of the riverside pubs. The town is full of ancient buildings, some leaning in very quirky ways and a whole host of independent shops and eateries.
There is also a castle, river cruises, several cinemas, the Theatre Severn, an ancient abbey and, once a year, the impressive Shrewsbury Flower Show.
Oswestry is also close by and is well worth a visit for its shops. It has a very lively art and crafts community with studios and exhibitions to visit.
For those of you who are National Trust visitors Powis Castle, Attingham Park, Sunnycroft, Chirk Castle and Erddig Hall are all within 18 miles of the campsite.
