Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

Lovely little site to stay at unless you want something that has a lot going on. There's a canal directly opposite where we did a lot of blackberry picking and a lovely little pub over the road. We loved that the kids got to play outside and not be stuck to screens etc! The owner was lovely and very helpful. The toilets/shower blocks are always clean, the site was very clean. And the gentleman mowing was even a happy chatter! Would definitely stay again for a little quiet break. :)

Site's response

Hi Kelci. That's a lovely review of your recent stay at Little Acre and I'm glad that you all enjoyed your time with us. Paul. p.s. yes, Ivan (who cuts the grass) enjoys having a catch-up with people!

A little gem! Can’t fault this lovely little site, we have been to hotel spa facilities which don’t match up to the bathrooms! A quiet, friendly site which is a perfect base to explore the lakes. The staff were so friendly and we had an email to tell us our pitch before arrival so we didn’t need to worry about being there at a particular time. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you :)

Site's response

Hi Kaeti, Thank you very much indeed! I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre worked out so well for you and it'll lovely to look after you again in the future. Paul

Hi Cherri. Thank you for staying at Little Acre for your pioneering trip. It will be good to host you again when you're a campervan veteran! Paul.

Great site with excellent facilities. We just stayed for a one night stopover heading South, but we will definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

Site's response

With us being located just 1 mile from Junct 36 on the M6 (and having a really nice pub just 200 yards away !) we get lots of people staying with us for a 1 night stopover and you were very welcome to do so! Enjoy your travels and it will be lovely to host you again. Paul & Sarah

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

This is a lovely little site which is close to the canal for peaceful walks. There is a pub/hotel across the road which is dog friendly and the owner is friendly and on hand to help with anything we needed. On site, there is a laundry and wash room and 2 toilet/shower blocks - one of which was being upgraded. The already upgraded toilet/shower block is lovely and modern, with 2 private shower rooms and 3 toilets. However, there is a charge to use the shower which I found strange as the toiletries are complimentary. Wi-Fi is really good. We had plenty of space and were positioned on the field where the tents are as we asked for a quiet pitch, but I did notice the area that sites the tourers are very close together. On the whole, this is a nice site for a quiet getaway.

Site's response

Hi James, Thank you for your recent stay with us at Little Acre and for recommending us on campsites.co.uk As well as the wifi and toiletries being complimentary, we also have hand lotion, nail files, cotton wool pads cotton buds and in the laundry/washing up area, we also provide washing up liquid and liquitabs for the washing machine. We have various sized pitches onsite for campervans, motorhomes and caravans (single axle or twin) and we sell pitches according to the vehicle that is going onto it, so that none of the pitches are in any way cramped. Enjoy your touring and it would be lovely to host you again. Paul.

Nice site but timed payment for showers

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

So I'll start with the pros. A lovely clean site with nice toilet and laundry facilities which were kept very clean. Nice pitches. Now for the cons. We hadn't realised there was an extra charge for the showers and these were coin timed. Early evening, we had our child start to be sick, so went to shower her and realised we needed money. With very limited cash on us I went to the owner to try and get some change. I was clearly upset and explained we didn't realise we needed cash for the showers and was disappointed in that, to be told if we didn't like it he could cancel our booking and leave immediately. To say I was upset at this is an understatement. We had travelled very far, it was early evening and we had a sick child. This left a very sour taste and put somewhat of a dampener on our stay. The following day there was an altercation with two other families and we saw him again tell them to pack up and leave. To hear this twice in two days to two families would make me very wary, especially after travelling very far and both times were early evening, so I'm not sure where he thought you would be able to go at that point in the day.

Site's response

Hello Joe, thank you for staying with me recently and I'm glad that you appreciated our facilities. The showers cost 20p for 3 minutes (including complimentary luxury shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and hairdryers) and is displayed prominently on our listing with Campsites.co.uk and is highlighted in block writing in the confirmation that I sent to you. On the day that you came to me for change, you seemed upset and were confrontational. After trying to explain how the shower charge worked, it seemed that you weren't interested in me trying to help you. At this stage, I said that if paying 20p for a shower was so important to you, the best result would be for me to give you a full refund and for you find another site to stay at. You decided to stay and I changed you some 20p's as you asked. The following day, we unfortunately had an instance where a customer was being a nuisance to other customers, was causing damage to our facilities and was acting in a way that was dangerous to themselves and others. Sadly, after being asked to change their ways, they refused, so they were asked to leave the site, which they did. For future bookings, reading the details of a site before you are booking, or reading the confirmation email that is sent to you, would give you a better understanding of facilities that are available to you and at what (if any) additional charge. Enjoy your touring and I hope that you are able to find other sites that fit your criteria. Paul.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

The only complaint is showers needed coins. I think they should have charged 1 pound more and have freer use of showers.

Site's response

Hello Dalibor, Thank you for staying with us, and rating Little Acre as 5*s on Campsites.co.uk. For a while, the showers were "free" and we had lots of instances when people were taking 15 mins plus in the showers, which wasn't reasonable for other customers who wanted to use them. Since reintroducing the 20p for 3 mins, we no longer get people using the showers for 15 mins at a time! Paul P.S. most caravans & motorhomes already have showers fitted, so it would be a bit unfair to increase their pitch fees for facilities that they wouldn't use.

Outstanding little site

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

Excellent, clean site with the best toilet and shower facilities ever, even with complimentary shower gel and shampoo. Only downside is that if the campsite is full, we reckon there wouldn't be enough showers and toilets. Lovely washing up area, again with washing up liquid. Quiet and peaceful, with great walks along the canal which is just across the road. Brilliant for dogs! Pub which serves lovely meals only a few minutes walk away. Friendly owner too and no complaints at all.

Site's response

Hi Christine, Thank you for staying with us recently and I'm glad that things worked out so well for you. Facility wise, we have 2 facility blocks onsite which some people aren't aware of and think that we have only have one! At our busiest times of day, they facility blocks are busy, but can cope. See you again, Paul.

Very nice and clean campground. It would be nice if they added a little play area for children.

Site's response

Hello Christian. Thank you for your recent stay at Little Acre and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. We get very few families staying with us who have younger children, so we don't have any plans to add a children's playground to Little Acre. Enjoy your touring. Paul.

A beautiful site with modern facilities kept clean and tidy. A perfect place to stay to visit both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales with a 30 minute drive in opposite directions. Paul was very friendly and helpful showing us around the site and where the facilities all were.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

This was our second time away with our caravan, 2 kids and 2 dogs and it was great! Lovely, well-organised, clean toilets and showers, area to wash up was spotless, spacious, helpful staff. This was a good place to stay with dogs as it's right next to the canal so we did a couple of walks along there. We spent the day in Arnside at the beach and were only 15 minutes drive away. Thank you Little Acre we will be back!

Site's response

Hello Natalie. It was lovely to host you and your family again this weekend. Thank you for being a returning customer to Little Acre, it's really appreciated. Paul.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

This was our first stay at Little Acres and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the site. This is an ideal base for exploring as Kendal is only about 15 minutes by car with the lakes about half hour in the other direction. The site has a pleasant canal walk running along beside it and the local pub is about 200 yards away, however, you must book in advance as they fill up quickly. The site has 2 toilet/shower blocks and a laundry/washing up area and both are well equipped with all you need. The only negative from our perspective is that the facilities are not sufficient for the number of users. At the time of our visit the facilities were under refurbishment.

Site's response

Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Alyson. We can't wait for the renovations in the men's in the original block to be completed (we're doing the Ladies whilst we're closed) and then we're back to 100% again. In the mean time, the ladies facilities in the original block are barely used, with people choosing to use the new block instead, even though they have to wait! Our hope is that when the original facilities block has been completely modernised and refurbished, the usage will even out once again. We'd love you to come back and see the changes. Paul & Sarah

Lovely wee park, spotless with owners around all the time overseeing everything is as it should be. Central for visiting the different towns in the Lake District. Shower/ toilet block new and again spotless at almost all times. Well worth 20p for a shower. Definitely be back again 😊

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Small PitchAug 2024

Good campsite, not sure why a 20p surcharge for showers is necessary.

Site's response

Hello Richard. Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. For a while, the showers were free and we had multiple instances of people continually pressing the "hot water" button until either a) the hot water tank was emptied, or b) the gas cylinder had been emptied - both of which were hugely annoying as people the had to wait for the water tank to refill with hot water, or a new gas cylinder to be fitted. From time to time, we also used to get people taking showers for 15-20 mins "because they could" which again, didn't work so well for other folks onsite. At the time, we reintroduced the 20p for 3 mins, we also added complimentary luxury shampoo, shower gel and conditioner, as well as a hairdryer for people to use - and the issue of the water tank being emptied, the gas cylinder being exhausted and the showers being "hogged", disappeared overnight. Hopefully that explains why we've done what we have and hopefully we'll host you again in the future. Paul P.S. Awnings, people, dogs, electric, water and Wi-Fi are all included in the nightly pitch fees.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

Lovely spot to stop, nice dog-walking along canal, pub over the road, best toilets ever at a campsite. Had a wonderful time, owner was very helpful and gave a nice warm greeting, explaining everything we needed to know and helped with hard ground pegs. Was a complete delightful stay, would definitely use again. Would suit older kids as not much for young kids to do of an evening. Really enjoyed the stay.

Site's response

Hi Sarah. Thank you for staying with us and I'm glad that you all enjoyed your stay. With us not having a children's playground at Little Acre, we don't get many younger children staying with us - nearly all of our customers are people who have come away to quietly enjoy themselves. See you again. Paul.
