Absolutely stunning location with loads to keep the kids entertained on site and at local attractions. The play equipment was brilliant and the peacocks kept my kids amused. Only down side was myself and my 3 children staying during the Leicestershire half term, which doesn't coincide with Derbyshire, which meant lots of teenagers doing their D of E. The majority were ok but you won't be able to use the main showers or toilets when they're there. The larger groups can also be quite intimidating for younger children and the music did carry over from the field to the family camping area. It did go off after 10pm but made it difficult for the younger ones to sleep initially. The staff cleaned up really well and the campsite in general is very clean but first thing in the morning, the toilets didn't smell pleasant. So again, not ideal for younger children outside Derbyshire school times. Definitely recommend but you need to think about timings of when to use the facilities.

Our first camping trip since lockdown. Barn Farm Campsite is beautiful, all staff are very friendly (even opened shop up out of hours for us), and facilities are brilliant and clean. The wandering peacocks are glorious to watch. Everybody stops to take photos of them during the day - but they were less popular when they started making noise at 04:11am...but you know what, we will be back :-) but hopefully in the larger field with not much of a hill. We moved to the bottom of the hill when there was space.

Lovely location, great views, good facilities and helpful staff. Loved the alpacas and peacocks although peacocks were a bit noisy at night. Earplugs may help light sleepers. The toilets were clean but a bit of a walk away if you need them at night.

Lovely stay, beautiful location and excellent facilities. The friendly peacocks were possibly the only negative - were a little bit noisy in the night and again at sunrise.. otherwise would definitely recommend.

Great site with wonderful views of glorious countryside. Will happily book again but mid-week out of school holidays, rather than a weekend.

Fab location and site. Toilets and showers are quite clean but can get a bit messy when the site is busy. Overall a great site.

We visited for the first time over the weekend, Friday to Sunday. This place is brilliant for all the family! Showers and toilets were nice and clean. There is a nice little games room suitable for both adults and children, which had a pool table for only 50p a game and lots of outdoor games too, including table tennis and a trampoline for the children. There is an on-site shop which reception were more than happy to open for us even after it was supposed to be closed. There was also a park for the children and lots of space for them to play football etc. The area itself was lovely, with peacocks and llamas to look at. Not far at all from Matlock centre and also a short drive to Bakewell. We were very impressed and will definitely be returning!!

Large, busy site but quiet in the evenings. Well maintained, beautiful location. Excellent wood fired pizza oven for takeaways on Friday night! 2 pubs about 10/15 minutes walk. Food at the Red Lion was excellent!

The only negative being having to see an altercation between 2 men, one of whose dog knocked a small girl over.

This weekend was our very first visit to Barn Farm Campsite and we had such a fabulous weekend. Kids enjoyed playing in the games room and play area on the campsite. Enjoyed an evening stone baked pizza- it was delicious and breakfast van also which was too very yummy and we will most definitely be back again Thank you

Excellent, excellent, excellent, excellent. Wow! This site surpasses all my expectations. Fantastic location with stunning views. Superb facilities i.e. showers, toilets, shop washing up etc. Touring pictures were fantastic as they had both electric hook up and water point, on a more than adequate sized pitch. At certain weekends there was a pizza stall (yummy) and a breakfast van selling bacon rolls etc, as well as 2 local pubs serving delicious food and drinks within walking distance. Local attractions were easy to access. All in all, this was a fantastic holiday which exceeded my expectations and I will definitely return.

Arrived for 2 nights stay in a motorhome with our 2 dogs. Fast, easy check-in with friendly staff. Perfect location to walk across the county to Matlock. Lots of onsite facilities. Campsite was kept very tidy and clean. Pitches are well spaced apart. Lots of walking routes from the site and local places of interest. Peacocks and Alpacas on site. The local pub - Druid Inn within walking distance (10 minutes). Amazing food, warm welcome to us and our dogs. Also accommodate dietary requests. Overall perfect campsite. Highly recommended. Hopefully will return again soon. Sue & Tony (Devon).

A number of noisy peacocks prevented us falling asleep and woke us with a vengeance at 5am. Youth groups added to the noise and adversely affected the cleanliness of the toilets. Can't comment on other facilities as only stayed one night (instead of two) and headed home for a good night's rest. Grounds were well kept and staff were friendly and helpful. Roads to Birchover are quite narrow, as many others in the area are.

The site is spotless, views are amazing, individual showers. Only little bit of gripe is you do need levelling blocks on caravan pitches, but they clearly state this on their website

Lovely campsite and very picturesque. Everything you would want on site. 2 really nice pubs in Birchover. Clean showers and toilets. Can't fault it.

Family trip with some friends in a well-maintained site in a nice location with good facilities. Everyone had fun! Stayed in the family field with the playground. I am sure the site would cater well for couples who want a bit more peace and quiet too (though the peacocks, whilst nice to see wandering around, do have a fair bit of noise until the sun goes down!).
Wonderful!

Enabling a large group to get away together, split between a barn, the camping field and hard standing. Barn Farm does an absolutely stand-up job.

I arranged a camping weekend for 16 members of the Norton Owners Club and everyone agreed that it was a great site, good location and facilities, local pubs down the hill and great rides on the doorstep.

Third time we have stayed here. Perfect campsite. Site well looked after, cleaning and bin clearing done regularly and site and facilities always clean. Perfect location. Only issue (not a complaint) was pitching fabric tent in field alongside footpath on right, large tree dropped fruit on to fabric tent (stain may not be removable), maybe alert fabric tent owners of this possibility?
