About the site

This family-run glamping site sits on a busy working farm, so guests are sure to see some of the action, from lambing and harvest to cows coming to say hello while they relax in the hot tub. Visitors are welcome to wander the farm tracks, where local wildlife can be spotted and countryside views enjoyed. Each unit has its own private garden, with an optional hot tub, fire pit, BBQ and seating, perfect for stargazing under Northumberland's famous dark skies. Many guests catch stunning sunrises over the coast, and some have even been lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. The dog-friendly pods are enclosed, so four-legged friends can roam freely. The site has three luxury glamping pods for two (plus dogs), each with a king-sized bed, ensuite shower, TV, and a well-equipped kitchen for easy self-catering. For something more unusual, there are restored canal boats set into the hillside. Miss Ellie sleeps up to six with two double beds and a set of bunks, while Moonraker is perfect for two with a snug cabin bed and its own bathroom under canvas. Both boats are fully heated and feature good working kitchens, with plenty of space to relax, play games, or watch a film on rainy days. For larger groups, the spacious showman's wagons, Peweet and Plover, sleep up to six. Each has a king-sized bedroom, a twin room, and a sofa bed, plus an open-plan living area with a smart TV and a fully fitted kitchen. Plover also has an ensuite bathroom and even a bath with countryside views. On arrival, fresh linen and towels are provided, along with hot tub hoodies for those who have opted for one. Complimentary biscuits and marshmallows are also included. The honesty shed, "The Stick," is stocked with logs, kindling, charcoal, disposable BBQs, and seasonal treats to add to the stay. For special occasions, extras such as balloons, treats, or even dog treat boxes can be arranged. The site is just 15 minutes from Northumberland's sandy beaches, ten minutes from Alnwick, and only half an hour from Cragside or the Cheviot Hills, making it ideally located for exploring the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Dogs are welcome in the pods but not in the other accommodation.

Glamping Pod - Ensuite Glamping Pods with Optional Hot Tubs (Dog Friendly) Jul 2025

We have just returned from the most amazing stay at Middlemoor Farm and will certainly be returning, and recommending to friends and family. The pod was well equipped, spotless and had the comfiest bed! We particularly enjoyed the outside space which was private and had amazing views from the hot tub. Thank you for a great stay.

Glamping - Moonraker NarrowboatMay 2025

Overall, we had an amazing 2 nights staying in Moonraker. The only reason I gave the facilities only 3 star was on the 2 mornings we had showers, the water was cold really cold, not what you want on a cold morning. The water in the kitchen part was really hot, so not quite sure the difference in the shower. Other than that, the venue is amazing and we paid extra to use the hot tub which was lovely. The location is beautiful, quite remote and all you can hear are the sheep and birds. All the furnishings in the canal boat were beautiful and everything you needed. We did have an issue with the door into the boat which we couldn't lock, but this was sorted by a young man.

Fantastic, relaxing stay

Pods have everything you need and more, clean and comfortable and the location is fantastic, very quiet and scenic. They are also great value for money. I would definitely stay again!

Things to do on site and in the Alnwick area

There's loads to see and do nearby, with something for every age and interest. You can visit castles and gardens, relax on sandy beaches, try local food, or head out on walks and boat trips. There's even the world's largest play structure to explore.

Alnwick Castle and Gardens are a favourite for families. Kids can try broomstick training, dragon hunts, and dressing up in medieval clothes, while adults will spot locations used in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Next door, The Alnwick Garden has the world's biggest wooden treehouse, a huge waterfall, and the Poison Garden with over 100 dangerous plants.

Warkworth Castle sits high above the River Coquet and is perfect for a picnic with views. For something a bit spooky, Chillingham Castle is said to be one of the most haunted in England. Guided tours share its ghost stories, and you might also see the rare wild cattle that live there.

By the coast, Bamburgh Castle is one of the best-known landmarks in the region, right by the wide sands of Bamburgh Beach. The village also has great food spots like The Walled Garden Café and The Potted Lobster. For a quieter beach day, Alnmouth Beach is perfect for picnics, flying kites, or family games.

Lindisfarne (Holy Island) is rich in history, with its priory and castle, but you need to check the tide times before crossing the causeway. From Seahouses, boat trips head out to the Farne Islands, home to puffins, seals, and lots of seabirds.

At Cragside (National Trust) you can see the first house in the world lit by hydroelectric power. The grounds are full of gardens and woodland walks, making it great for a family day out. Walkers will also enjoy the Cheviot Hills, which have trails for all levels and amazing views.

For a rainy day, Barter Books in Alnwick is a huge second-hand bookshop in an old railway station, with a model train running above the shelves. Families should also try Lilidorei at The Alnwick Garden, a magical play village with the world's tallest play structure, Elfwin Drin, standing 85 feet tall.

Foodies can sample Lindisfarne oysters, famous for their sweet taste, or Craster kippers, smoked herring from the nearby fishing village. For a great breakfast or lunch, Carnaby's Café near Alnwick is a popular stop and just a short drive from the glamping site.
