Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesMay 2026

The location is outstanding, access straight onto the fells and a lovely walk to Thirlmere Water. I wasn't sure which way to park on my pitch and the farmer came down to help me, he was so helpful and friendly. The wash facilities are rural camping style which I quite like, basic but very clean and constant hot water.(If you travel a lot, you know how much a bonus this is). Would highly recommend and I would certainly go back oh and the pup next door is brilliant as well. If you want to feel the outdoors and be apart of rural Cumbria, this is the place to be.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesApr 2026

This was a difficult review to write, as this is a no frills site, situated on a busy road (although we weren't bothered by the noise) and if you go knowing that, then we couldn't fault it. We were greeted on arrival by the owner who gave us some handy tips on the area. Site had toilets and showers, accessed by key code in a converted barn so are basic and a little chilly. EHU and water were well located. Location was excellent, a short walk out the back of the farm takes you to a beautiful spot with waterfalls and infinity pools. Thirlmere lake is walkable and you can get a regular bus from opposite the campsite site into to Keswick. A great spot for exploring. Situated next door to a nice pub, we didn't eat there but food looked amazing as it was coming out. Phone signal was poor for some of our group but the pub does have Wi-Fi.

Basic but good

Campsite is a 10 minute drive to Keswick which was ideal. Clean facilities, hot showers and washing up station. Handy having the pub next door, we had a delicious hot chocolate to warm us up! Would stay here again

Great campervan site close to a variety of lovely trails including easy trail access to Helvellyn.

A wonderful site - incredibly good value since it has all the facilities needed for campervans including powered sites and the views on all sides are spectacular.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesApr 2026

Great location for exploring local fells & valleys. We used the frequent bus services to get about, so we could leave the van in camping mode. The pub with shop next door are also handy. Site is close to a busy road (in daytime), but you soon get used to it. Mobile phone coverage is patchy, but pub has WiFi.

Thirlspot gives you a back-to-basics experience, but has so much on hand to deliver an unforgettable Lakeland holiday. The site is clean, not too big and equipped with washing facilities. It's next door to a pub which is convenient. Its also near a range of different walking routes right on the doorstep

Friendly small campsite

Easy to find,, well placed for lots of walks. A small friendly campsite that caters for people that are busy during the day. Great location in the Lakes. The facilities are fine, clean loos and a hot shower. Slept well. Great pub next door if you want a good evening meal. Thank you

The location is perfect, well apart from, the buffoons on motorbikes were overtaking on the adjacent road. Dog friendly. Hot showers and clean facilities. Multiple walks right from the site. A pub next door, see, perfection!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

My wife and I, and our 2 dogs, arrived at the site late afternoon in the rain (well it is the lakes after all). Went to reception to be greeted by what felt like a very grumpy owner, got our code for the toilet block and pitch number which was number 3, we went to our very badly marked out, waterlogged and sloping pitch. Hoped to put our awning up next day as weather was supposed to be fine which it was. We decided to go and have a couple of pints in the nearby King's Head pub which I would highly recommend. Went back to the van and settled in for the night, the road noise is terrible and continued late into the night. Unfortunately the next morning we had to make the decision to come home early as one of our dogs became ill. Such a shame as the weather was glorious, I'm not even sure where we would have put the awning if we had stayed as the ground was so boggy. I told the owner we were leaving early as I thought he may want to free up the pitch for a last minute booking, asked if we were able to get a credit note for a return trip some other time, which I didn't think was an unreasonable request. He said yes as long as we used it this year, but then said they closed for the winter next weekend. Although this site is in a lovely area of the lakes, that's about it. If you're planning on staying here, you need wellies, ramps, and earplugs and good luck with the awning.

Great location for a small campsite

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

Basic campsite but had everything we needed for our two night stay. The backdrop of the site was amazing. Owner told us of a good walking route to follow which was useful. We would use again in the future.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

We stayed for 2 nights, site is on a busy main rain but it did settle down at night. Facilities are dated. Pub next door is very good. I felt it was overpriced £25 per night non electric on a little bit of hardstanding.

Ok

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

Pros. Good location next to the pub (which was excellent btw), by the bus stop and at the foot of Sticks Pass up to Helvellyn. Cons. A bit basic for £30 a night (but then this is the Lake District) and road noise could be an issue. Facilities adequate. Felt more like a lay-by just off the road than a site. No Wi-Fi or phone signal. This could a pro or a con!

Lovely quiet campsite that was well located for some wonderful hiking in the Lakes. Located right next to a friendly pub also. Facilities were clean and tidy.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

Great view of the fells with easy access to Sticks Pass and Helvellyn. The owner was very helpful with the walking routes. The main road is busy during the day but quietens down at night and didn’t disturb our sleep. Facilities basic but sufficient with plenty of hot water.

Roof Tent - Non Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

Great location to stay, very close to Keswick and Threkeld. Good sized hard standing pitch but very close to neighbouring tents / awnings if you have a side tent. Facilities were great, two showers and several toilets. Hot water to wash up with was a nice touch also to save boiling water to wash. Right next to a pub was also great especially during wet weather evenings.

Perfect spot

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

Stayed for a long weekend. The location is ideal for some amazing walks from the site. Bus stop outside site with a bus every 30 mins to Keswick. The pub next to the site is great, had Sunday lunch there, the best I've had. There was also electric on site. The toilet and shower blocks are basic, but it's a working farm, and we found them clean at all times. We will definitely be returning.

Luscious lakeland spot

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

A site that meets all your needs and is set in beautiful surroundings. However, it is just off of a fairly busy, (mainly daytime) road. It is right next to a pub that serves good food. Pitches are a little on the small side. Ideal as we used it for a stopover.

Excellent site

The facilities and support were really good for our stay. The toilets & showers were really clean and the staff were always willing to help or answer questions. For my first campervan break I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Nice spot, close to Thirlmere lake and a pub next door!

Roof Tent - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

Lovely little campsite! Electric and running water right next to our pitch. Toilets and showers were clean. Washing up facilities and fridge freezer available. Quiet spot but a busy road opposite so louder during the day. Pub next door and less than a mile walk to the lake. No children allowed to stay.
