Very friendly, small campsite Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Small Pitch May 2023 Clean and friendly small campsite, which accepts dogs on a lead. The pitch we had, (number 2), did have a small grass area behind the motorhome, which was lovely in the sun. We had an electric hook-up and fresh water on the pitch. There is a canal just outside, which is very good for walking the dog off the lead on the towpath. There is a hotel/pub a short walk away which does accept dogs, but you need to book a table, so we didn't get to go there.
We felt the downsides were the charge for the showers, the single sink in the dishwashing area, which meant a queue to do the washing up, and no motorhome service point.
Overall it was a lovely peaceful site, but we didn't think it was for us.

Hi Lesley
Thank you for reviewing me on campsites.co.uk, which I really appreciate.
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you (& your dogs !) were made welcome.
I agree that the dishwashing area is busy at peak times (you stayed with us over a BH weekend) and this is something that we are addressing. The large stone building that you will have seen being constructed close to the existing washup area is our new loo/laundry/shower/washup facility, which will more than triple the washing up facilities for folk to use. The original plan was for it to be ready for Whit BH weekend, but timings slipped and we didn't manage that date - we're now at the final stages of completion and it won't be long before it's up and running.
Previously we had "free" showers, but we had several instances of people repeatedly hitting the hot water button that either a) drained the hot water tank or b) drained the 47kg gas cylinder - both of which then rendered the showers unusable for others to use. After reintroducing the 20p for 3 min showers (you can add several 20p's if you'd like a longer shower) the nuisance behavious stopped and the showers once again work as planned for the benefit of everyone. At the same time, we also introduced complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryers and heated mirrors for people to use.
I don't currently have a motorhome service point, but it is something that I'm looking at for the future - finding a suitable location is proving to be a challenge.
I hope that you enjoy your future travels at sites that suit you better.
Paul
Great Little Site Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2023 Beautiful site, close to local pub and canal walk. Staff very helpful. Only one shower in toilet blocks but new one being built! Super clean and maintained well. Will be back.
Site's response
Thank you Julie. The builders and plumbers are all working actively on site, so progress is being made on the new shower, loo and laundry block (we do have 2 shower & loo blocks on site, but quite a few people only use the one that is closest to them or aren't always aware of the other one).
Since your stay, the swan that is on the canal next to Little Acre has had 9 cygnets, which will be something nice to look at on your next visit!

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Motorhome and Campervan Pitches May 2023 Nice site, close to M6 and southern Lake District. Managers helpful and friendly. Facilities a bit limited, but clean enough and new ones getting built.
Lovely canal walk and pub is decent with good service and food okay. Bus at end of road to Kendal.

Probably the easiest stepping stone to the lake district. Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2023 Easy to find. Easy to access. My journey M1, M6, and there I was.
Shower block very good and very very clean.
Made a great start to the Lake District.
You do the motorway traveling to get there and then relax here, ready to start the next day's smaller roads.

And we even arranged lovely weather for you as well during your stay!
Thank you for the lovely review - as you say, we're very handy for M6 Junction 36, but we aren't troubled by the traffic noise.

Peace and quiet Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2023 Lovely place to stay for complete relaxation, spotlessly clean, fully serviced pitches. Great walk along the canal. Showers brilliant. Nice hotel a few minutes stroll from site with public bar and superb food.
Loved our stay here and will deffo be back.

Peace and quiet Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Motorhome and Campervan Pitches May 2023 Absolutely loved this site, just off junction 36 of the M6. We wanted a few days of peace and quiet and we certainly got it. Paul was extremely helpful with our pitch and we were surprised to find both a hose pipe and hook up lead on our pitch.
We walked across the lane straight onto the canal which is extremely well cared for considering it is disused. There is some slight noise from the road but not enough to disturb you. The site is extremely well maintained and a new shower block and laundry area are being built, although the older facilities are adequate and clean.
The Pub across the main road has excellent food and there's a garage 10 minute walk away if you run out of essentials. There is a bus stop nearby to take you into Kirkby Lonsdale or Kendal in the opposite direction.
It's a great place if you're travelling north or south of the M6 and need a stop over, or if you just want some peace and quiet.

Thank you for staying with us Peter and it will be lovely to host you again when our brand new, shiny toilet, shower and laundry block opens.

Excellent campsite Recommends site
Apr 2023 We have just returned from a two week stay at Little Acre Campsite, this was our first stay at this site and in this area.
The site's location is so easy to access from the M6 motorway it makes towing the caravan a treat. We were greeted by the owners Paul and Sarah. After telling us where things were on the site and what to do in the area, we were left to pitch up and explore.
We have been caravanning for over 16 years staying at all sorts of different caravan sites, Little Acre Campsite has the best dog walk we have ever come across. It takes you down by the canal with lovely scenery and wildlife and it is so peaceful and lovely.
The Crooklands Hotel across the road from the campsite is a great pit stop on the way back after a day out exploring for a nice refreshment in the beer garden. They also do some amazing meals, although for an evening meal especially at weekends, booking is advisable.
Little Acre Campsite has a fantastic toilet block which is spotlessly clean and well laid out. The showers have been designed so that you have enough room to get changed and showered in comfort. The showers are 20p for three minutes, which is more than enough time to shower and wash your hair. The water is always hot and the sink provided within the shower unit is also a good extra, along with lots of hooks for towels and clothes.
Little Acre Campsite is a great place to stay very dog friendly, Paul and Sarah are excellent hosts. The ice cream van that comes to the site is an added bonus and Paul and Sarah have also organised a meal truck/street food van that comes on a Friday night. We tried the pulled pork which was amazing - definitely an added bonus and an excellent touch.
Would definitely recommend staying at this campsite and we are hoping to return in the near future. Thank you Paul and Sarah for an amazing stay.

Thank you for the lovely review Suzanne (& organising the lovely weather whilst you were here as well). Since you've left, the swan that was nesting 200 yards from us has 9 cygnets keeping her company, which is a lovely sight when strolling along the canal.
It will be lovely to host you again and we'll have a brand new shower, loo and laundry block for you to use.
