VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2025 I didn't really want to leave.
Wonderful walks, clean toilets, beautiful views, you can swim in the river. What more does one want?
Planning to return very soon. ☺️
Lovely spot
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Great views from the higher part of the site, although we couldn't see the river from our pitch.
The countryside was beautiful & Fotheringhay is charming. Site rules about noise & well behaved dogs were respected which made it very restful. Portaloos were kept clean & stocked. All very nicely done. Kaz was a great site manager.

Nice, friendly, welcoming staff that are located in a yurt as you drive in, which is very handy to rent fire pits and get the general information and layout of the site. Brilliant fun in the day on the river in a kayak and a real sense of freedom at night as you're just left alone.
Couldn't be happier with my stay and will definitely return in the future.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2024 Great campsite. The team were lovely, helpful and very accommodating.
Site was easy to find and in a lovely area with river for swimming. Amazing views and very peaceful. Only thing is the village didn't have a little shop or anything, but there was one a short drive so not a big problem.
Portaloos only, but super clean and were well stocked and the site are very clear that there is no other facilities.
Most importantly as a solo female traveller I felt safe throughout my stay and liked the fact there was a member of staff on site. Whilst I didn't need this, it was a comfort.
Great site overall very clean, felt safe and comfortable. 100% will be staying again.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 We stayed here for one night and it was a fantastic find. Right by a lovely river for a spot of fishing and you can pick where you would like to park. Only port-a-loos on site but they were very clean. Perfect for a short stay.

What a hidden gem

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Mar 2024 Loved our stay here. Back to basics. Relaxed campsite that allows fire pits. Plenty of walks, cycling and access to the river for paddle boarding, plus descent pubs within walking distance.
What a lovely place
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Mar 2024 This is a fantastic site for those of us that have simple needs. With it having a water tap & one portaloo. Great for us folk that can remember campsites from old that we had fun on, where the first task of the holiday was to dig the long drop loo! lol
Beautiful spot with great walks to some idyllic village hostelries offering tasty treats & refreshments. The river I am sure adds some summer fun but was wild when we stayed!
All in all, a great little gem of a site.
Top Campsite for Wild Camping
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Oct 2023 Never stayed before, but pleased we did. Lovely site with some amazing views. Portaloo Toilets though basic were very clean and maintained. Fresh water is available at the entrance to the site as well. We will certainly stay again! Dog friendly 👍😊
Perfect for my needs
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Oct 2023 If you want showers and a clubhouse it's not for you. But, if you're after peace and quiet in a location rich in history, it's ideal.
Toilets were clean and well stocked with toilet paper, hand sanitiser and even air freshener!
I live on a boat and often spend a few days moored here in the summer. However, it's a ten hour cruise as opposed to a half hour journey in the car.
The dog and I loved it and will certainly be back.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2023 Lovely 1 night stay for our family. Weather was beautiful so had a little dip in the river before having a little campfire and BBQ. Had a wander around the old castle grounds before we settled down for the evening. Fantastic location. Defo be visiting again.
Natural beauty
Sep 2023 Chose just 1 night to try this campsite. So peaceful and natural. Lovely views, especially from the top of the castle mound. Good walks with dog. Enjoyed playing in our boat.
Great place
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2023 I had a wonderful stay. It was my first time car camping and I couldn't have chosen a better place. I had two swims and 3 lovely walks with my dog. I felt safe and it was so peaceful. I will come back soon as I can for another stay.
