Great to revisit this gem Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2023 Your experience starts even before you arrive, with a very friendly, informative email from the owners telling you your pitch number. They're also really quick to answer any emailed questions you may have.
The site is dead handy for the M6, although you'd never know you were that close as its quiet and you are completely in the countryside. There is a canal opposite with lovely walks and the added bonus of a swan family complete with 8 cygnets! There were very well behaved dogs on site while we stayed so obviously lots of good dog walks around. We were there for the Great North Swim and it was 20-30 minutes to the main transport points of Bowness and Brockhole.
The site has two areas - one with hard standings for tourers/mohos, and a camping field with a few hard standing pitches along one edge. Each has a facilities block, although we only used the one in the touring area which was spotless and well stocked, with lots of little extras like cotton buds and emery boards should you have emergencies. The showers had lots of hot water and were 20p for 3 minutes which is plenty, and in a shower room rather than a cramped cubicle. There's a hair dryer on the wall too. They are building a new facilities block in the camping field which I'm sure will be of the same high standard. The owner dropped by to check all was OK and have a little chat, and was available but inconspicuous all day - other than that you are left to your own devices if you want to be. They were generous with sharing information and seem to have spares of everything should you need it!
The pitches all have EHU and water very close by - it's as close to being fully serviced without actually being fully serviced as you could be. There's been a lot of work done since we were there last year, and our pitch looked really smart. They've changed the entrance to the camping field which makes it feel more open and the two areas feel more connected. We were in a caravan and had friends in two tents so appreciated that a lot. The birds also loved the open hedge that has been exposed by making this change as they were in and out all day! The pitches are level but not necessarily flat - not a criticism at all, just the geology of the area, but a note to readers to have steady blocks/wedges - although I'm sure the owners will be able to sort you out if you haven't!
Definitely recommend this site and hopefully be back next year!

Fabulous Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2023 Fabulous small site with great easy access from M6 (1 mile); very friendly welcome; great towpath walk and good pub/hotel very close; good shower facilities with lovely touch of toiletries etc. more new facilities under construction.
Good, mostly level, hardstanding pitches with EHU and water to each. We'll be back!

Hi Catherine. Thank you for rating us as 5*. Whilst you were here, you were on pitch #30 which has become the most requested motorhome/campervan pitch for rebookings in 2023 since we moved things around.
Enjoy your travels and it will be lovely to host you again in the future.

Thank you, Keith. Hopefully, when our new shower, loo and laundry block is completed, you'll like the facilities even more!

Very friendly, small campsite Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Small Pitch May 2023 Clean and friendly small campsite, which accepts dogs on a lead. The pitch we had, (number 2), did have a small grass area behind the motorhome, which was lovely in the sun. We had an electric hook-up and fresh water on the pitch. There is a canal just outside, which is very good for walking the dog off the lead on the towpath. There is a hotel/pub a short walk away which does accept dogs, but you need to book a table, so we didn't get to go there.
We felt the downsides were the charge for the showers, the single sink in the dishwashing area, which meant a queue to do the washing up, and no motorhome service point.
Overall it was a lovely peaceful site, but we didn't think it was for us.

Hi Lesley
Thank you for reviewing me on campsites.co.uk, which I really appreciate.
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you (& your dogs !) were made welcome.
I agree that the dishwashing area is busy at peak times (you stayed with us over a BH weekend) and this is something that we are addressing. The large stone building that you will have seen being constructed close to the existing washup area is our new loo/laundry/shower/washup facility, which will more than triple the washing up facilities for folk to use. The original plan was for it to be ready for Whit BH weekend, but timings slipped and we didn't manage that date - we're now at the final stages of completion and it won't be long before it's up and running.
Previously we had "free" showers, but we had several instances of people repeatedly hitting the hot water button that either a) drained the hot water tank or b) drained the 47kg gas cylinder - both of which then rendered the showers unusable for others to use. After reintroducing the 20p for 3 min showers (you can add several 20p's if you'd like a longer shower) the nuisance behavious stopped and the showers once again work as planned for the benefit of everyone. At the same time, we also introduced complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryers and heated mirrors for people to use.
I don't currently have a motorhome service point, but it is something that I'm looking at for the future - finding a suitable location is proving to be a challenge.
I hope that you enjoy your future travels at sites that suit you better.
