Friendly site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Super Grass Pitches (8m x 12m) Jul 2026 This is such a beautiful spot to camp and you can walk straight from the site onto the trail, so its safe for walks and rides with the kids if you're happier avoiding roads.
The pub is great and serves delicious food (I can recommend the lamb and mint burger) but it gets very busy with diners, so I would definitely book, they were turning people away on a Wednesday evening. Saying that, the pub does not disturb the camping. It's a very quiet and peaceful place.
The shower block is good, fairly clean and plenty of loo roll. Only issue was the showers are freezing! Also no hot water for washing dishes, hands etc. I didn't ask, so not sure if this is normal or whether there was a problem, but if you're planning to stay a few days, it might be worth checking. I used them but I don't think my little boy would have stood under long enough to wash properly. There is a handy plug socket in the shower block if you need to plug in a hairdryer etc. I charged my phone and watch here one night but obviously, that's at your own risk!
I would definitely go back to stay again. Friendly staff and wonderful location.
Great stay at the Royal Oak

The pub is great, service great, food - fabulous!!!
Facilities do what they need to, showers are a bit tight & have the push button controls that you have to keep pushing to continue the water flow.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Standard Grass Pitches (6x8m) May 2026 Good clean shower and toilet block. Great atmosphere and a pub on site! It's right on the old railway line trail so bring bikes.
We booked for one night on a driving day but would have stayed longer. Great site for tents and camper vans which had a great atmosphere. It's right on the peak trail with a cut through from the pitches. Our kids are grown up but the young'uns on site were having a great time playing on the trail.
For the money, the facilities are excellent but limited hook ups if you wanted one (we didn't need one). The shower block and loos were clean but (small criticism and easy to fix) there was a bit of litter around the site.

Large Tent - Non Electric Super Grass Pitches (8m x 12m) May 2026 Excellent.
Just what was wanted. Having the pub was the added bonus. Food great and plentiful. Beer and cocktails delicious.
Staff were very friendly, professional and they all loved our dog Daisy.
Would definitely recommend.
Great site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Large Grass Pitches (8x10m) May 2026 This site is great for walking (and cycling), direct access to the Tissington Trail. The Royal Oak onsite pub does good food too.
The site is a quiet one, although you can hear overhead planes and some road noise, although it didn't disturb us having quiet nights sat around the fire pit. Facilities were basic and clean and we didn't have to queue even on a full site over Bank Holiday weekend.
We will definitely be returning to this site, it just seemed very chilled.
Excellent Stopover & Food

High peak Trail excellent for a wee morning run.

Lovely little spot to camp

Great menu at the pub and an ideal spot to get straight out on the trails. Lovely stay.
