Very good campsite, we had a lovely time. The staff in the pub which runs it were friendly and accommodating. Plots with electric hook up also has water tap which was convenient. Having the pub there is ideal, loved having a pint of butty back after getting the tent up 😄😋 Shower and toilet facilities a little 'no frills' but for the price, I can't complain. I would come back here again. Thanks 👍

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2025

First trip in a camper van, chose Cottage of Content as the location. Small friendly site in the village of Barton, walking distance to Bideford-on-Avon. Simple booking and check in. Friendly helpful staff, great pub and facilities. Site was clean and well spread out for a great break. Nice walks to Bideford along the canal, dog friendly also and dogs catered for. Would recommend for couples and small families for a wholesome break.

A nice site to be quite honest, it's only the lack of toilets and showers that let's it down but that said, it's not a big field. With it being a small field however, any noise like dogs barking or excited kids running around and even revellers leaving the pub can be heard all over the field. We are on a mission to find a nice site locally to go to on a regular basis and although it's quite nice and popular, it's not the one for us. It's just that little bit further than we wanted.

The place, the pub was lovely food very good and staff very friendly. There is only one shower and one toilet for males, so not ideal. Also, very outdated and not very clean, really needs upgrading. Overall, okay for a couple of nights.

Lovely pub, but poor camping and unhygienic facilities

Motorhome - Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2025

A warm welcome, a really nice pub and lovely food with very generous portion sizes. Sadly, the campsite was extremely disappointing! Although a good location for Bidford-on-Avon, the campsite was dirty and had insufficient site toilets and showers facilities for the amount of people staying - unacceptable! For the amount of designated/undesignated pitches, the toilet facilities were very inadequate - a potential risk waiting to happen, especially with the amount of young children around! There was only 1 toilet/sink and shower for ladies and only 1 toilet/sink and shower for gentlemen. Considering there were 22-25 official pitches with a further 3-5 pitches in the middle of the site, there were insufficient sanitation facilities to cope with the amount of people staying at the site. There was also rubbish all along the hedge and wood line. It would be nice to have had additional toilet and shower facilities provided - maybe 3 more per gender (6 in total). Sadly, a mixed but overall disappointing and poor review of the campsite facilities. The hygiene facilities of the site could be a lot better!

Nice quiet site. Pitches close together. Facilities are basic. Pub food okay. Fine for a 1 night stay.

Had a lovely time, staff in the pub were very friendly and cheerful. The pub was what you would expect. Only downside there's no food served on Monday and Tuesdays and the pub doesn't open until 4pm. As there is only one male and one female toilet on site, it made it a little difficult. Toilet block could do with updating.

Nice site

Lovely site. Toilets let it down a bit but wouldn't stop us going again.

A great place to stay

Overall great stay, in a great location. The owners of the pub were fantastic and the food was delicious. The only negative would be limited toilet and shower facilities in comparison to the capacity of the site.

Great site for Stratford upon Avon

Good campsite for visiting Stratford upon Avon, nice flat pitches with lovely pub on site with pool table. Short walk into Bidford upon Avon which has a lovely park for kids with football field and you can enjoy a picnic watching the narrow boats go by!

Avoid if camping

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Lovely quiet location not far from Stratford. We booked on the basis of the star reviews. However, very disappointed in the campsite itself. While having water and electricity at each of the pitches was great, having only one toilet and one shower each for men and women was completely inappropriate for the number of pitches. The toilets were dirty and we opted not to use the shower due to the disgusting state of it. Also, there was no hot water at the dishwashing area. Staff in the pub were friendly and welcoming but I'm sorry, we would not return nor recommend this campsite. We did not order food in the pub so I can't comment on this area.

Location was good

Location was good. Nice dog walks. Nowhere apparent to get water for non hook-up area in the middle. Wi-Fi poor on site when site was busy. Shower and washing up area not great in terms of cleanliness. Good location for a short stay.

Motorhome - Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Had a lovely stay at the Cottage of Content. Reasonably flat grass pitch with EHU and lovely pub with great food which we sampled and loved (be sure to book a table in advance as it's snug inside). Karaoke on Saturday was fab and outside there are tables in the beer garden; there was a bouncy castle for the little ones and a covered barn area where I guess in the peak times they have entertainment and barbecues in there. The pub is also dog friendly too. 15 min walk away is a beautiful village with more pubs and restaurants ❤️ Only criticism was that there is only one shower and toilet overnight for women and same for men- all really good overall. Wd recommend.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Great location, great walks & good food at the pub! Toilet clean but shower door hanging off on first night. Put back on the next day but not great. Enjoyed our stay & a nicely situated site with great pub & lovely walk across fields to Bidford. However, 1 toilet & shower for female, the same for male is not enough when there are 2/4 people per pitch, potentially 30+ people for 1 toilet & 1 shower. Glad it was quiet on the 1st night but on the 2nd night a lot busier especially in the morning! Could do to invest in a proper shower & toilet block & would be amazing.

The campsite was lovely, very quiet

Large Tent - Large Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2025

Lovely little camp site value for money. Only issue was the ants. I think there's a few ants nests. The campsite was lovely very quiet. Facilities were ok. The only downfall was the ants. Our tent was full of them they was everywhere. But I suppose that's nature. Other than that, we couldn't fault it.

Medium Tent - Large Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2025

We really enjoyed our stay here! Didn't know you had to book in for food so was disappointed when we couldn't eat at the pub. But food looked amazing. Staff were really friendly and they had a great DJ on, really good vibes. Drinks were a bit pricy though. Not much change out of £20 for two doubles. We'll deffo be going back though.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring PitchesMay 2025

We chose this site as it was on pub grounds and we were meeting family there. We loved the idea we didn't have to walk miles to a pub! When we booked, we asked to be camped together with family (2 pitches together). When we arrived, we'd been placed in 2 separate pitches not together but thankfully, someone had just left the site meaning we could be pitched together. If we'd been pitched away from each other, it would have made it a different experience in my opinion. The site was sheltered from the wind and on a cute path to Bidford. The Avon was round the corner for fishing. There's a big covered area in the middle of the ground that has a stage, so likely quite lively on some nights. Large groups camped together, so if you don't like noise, don't go here. You're allowed fires if off the ground, which is great. The pub food was nice but we booked a table as it's small and we wouldn't have got a seat if we hadn't. Some minor hiccups, either the food order but the staff were good at setting this right with us. The toilets are ok, some in the pub that can be used all night if camping and one outside for female and one for males. There's a shower for women and men too, but it's very cramped and not the cleanest. There's a washing up area but wasn't very well kept either as the drains were overflowing and it was a bit of a slip hazard. We washed up by the van after our first experience. All in all, it was a good site for what we wanted, a place to eat and have a few drinks, camp and have a walk with the dogs. It's a lovely campsite. I'd go again in the future, but I'd take my portaloo!

Another great stay

Fantastic site with very good facilities, all be it could do with more outside showers and toilets. What was available was great. The pub is very friendly, meals are wonderful and well worth the money. Will definitely be going back again.
