Medium Tent - Valley View Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2026

A very clean and tidy camp site, loved the pop up pub and the shop which is handy because of its remote location. The showers are modern and well looked after. Very quiet after hours. The view to the north and west is very Lake District. The view of the valley can be great, I was lucky enough to catch some mist.

Lovely little stay

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesJul 2026

This little site was everything we wished for. The little country winding roads away from the main highway set its tone straight away, we could feel the serenity of the countryside before we even arrived. The site was quaint and small but had everything we needed. The little shop/reception was lovely although it's not open all day. When we arrived, there was clear self check in instructions, although would suggest maybe putting some signs up with directions to pitch numbers in each area. We were lucky to get a pitch right near the toilet block, although all of the pitches are close enough anyway. The toilets are lovely and clean, although the showers let off a lot of loose water on the floor, could maybe do with a little more drainage outside the shower cubicles. The showers are powerful although a little hot so be careful when getting under them at first. Upon receiving the email with the set of rules the campsite has, we were a little sceptical about some of them, but it was perfect that the site has a zero noise policy and no amplified music, this means the site is lovely and peaceful at all times which is just what we needed. The Wi-Fi goes in and out and there is zero mobile signal but again, if you're wanting a good break, then this shouldn't bother you too much. Windermere is a short 30 min drive away and there is a supermarket about 15 mins which we didn't use. We pre ordered a pizza for the second night of our stay which was lovely, although there is a lot of topping on the meat feast which is great, but better to leave until it cools down a bit so the dough forms a little better and it doesn't all fall off. The breakfast buns weren't available during our stay as it was outside of school holidays but the little pop up bar they have is lovely and they have a small selection of local drinks, my partner was impressed by the IPA they have on tap. They have fridge/freezers on site you can leave your stuff in to keep cool. The staff are all lovely and friendly also. All in all, we will definitely visit this site again and we look forward to our next visit.

Great stay at this place

Large Tent - Premium Grass Tent Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2026

We are a family of 4 and kids are 15 and . This was our first time camping and we loved it. The campsite was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful, toilets and shower were clean and well kept. The only thing about the showers is you can't change the temp and with the weather being so hot, it would have been nice to have a cooler shower. The shop was only open at certain times, so you can't just pop up if you need anything. A vending machine would be good idea, especially as the local shops and supermarkets are quite a distance away. Loved the fact that there was no noise after 10:30pm, it was so calm and peaceful. Overall, as first time campers, we would definitely camp again, it was a wonderful experience and amazing family time.

The best place to stay for a lepidopterist

Small Tent - Medium Optional Electric Grass PitchesJul 2026

Great campsite - no issues at all. Perfect location for looking for rare butterflies. Whitbarrow Scar (approx 2 miles away) is one of the premier butterfly sites in the UK. Its south-facing limestone cliffs, bracken, and ancient woodland provide the perfect habitat for several rare and endangered species. High Brown Fritillary, Whitbarrow is a crucial stronghold for this critically endangered species, other fritillaries seen are Pearl-bordered, Small Pearl-bordered, Dark Green, and Silver-washed Fritillaries. Can also see Northern Brown Argus, Grayling, Wall Brown, and the Dingy Skippers. Meathop Moss (approx 3 miles away) is excellent for Large Heath, which apart from a small colony in Lincolnshire are absent from southern England.

Yurt - Pennycress Yurt with Hot TubJul 2026

Perfect place to base yourself for a trip to the Lakes. Management and staff were very nice and helpful (charging our phones in the shop was greatly appreciated) they had all the facilities you will need for a comfortable camping experience. Staying in a yurt is well worth the money with no hassle putting up tents etc. Would definitely book here again.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Gravel Campervan PitchesJul 2026

Up hill and down dale on a narrow lane to a farm now multiple services. The farm shop is a yurt and there is a converted barn into a lovely bar. The pitches are wide and ramblers set off each morning. No need for hard standing pitch during the summer for campervans. Motorhomes may struggle with access

Very good

Nice little site, all very well done. Little shop fire pits nice pitches. The only thing that is a shame is the showers as annoying with auto on and off and not particularly hot at times. I say a shame, as modern, clean and clearly spent a lot of money on them.

Great campsite

Really nice campsite with lovely staff. Convenient location to surrounding hikes. Supermarket not far away. Issues with electric during our stay but they got it back up and running extremely fast.

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesJun 2026

Overall, our stay was very enjoyable and we had no issues. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but it would be nice to see the shop open for longer durations in the day. The shop however is well stocked for all your camping essentials. The overall cleanliness was good but due to rain on arrival there was some mud tracked in the toilet and shower facilities. The location is beautiful and very peaceful, it's also not far from Windermere. The road leading to the site however is quite narrow and nervous drivers may struggle. I would absolutely stay here again and would also recommend it.

Very clean and well maintained campsite, staff were helpful and informative! Plenty of areas around campsite for walks/hiking and it's easy enough to travel to different areas of the lake District.

Medium Tent - Large Optional Electric Grass PitchesJun 2026

I loved this campsite. Great facilities and so well located for Windermere. I was taking part in the Great North Swim and it was perfect for me. Loved my pitch, no 19 and found having the bar and pizza bar such a great idea I did plan to drink loads of wine and eat lots of pizza when I got back from my swim but I was so exhausted, I could barely walk back to my tent 😄 The staff were super lovely, friendly and helpful amd I would love to stay here again next year. I guess the highlight for me was the low flying swallows darting around. What a treat!

outstanding camp site

VW-Type Campervan - Terrace Grass Campervan Pitches (Optional Electric)May 2026

Great campsite with friendly staff, gorgeous views, and good value. We felt welcome as soon as we got there and had a great spot on terrace, with plenty of room between pitches for chairs and a campfire. The shop is very reasonably priced, the food van served great food, and the small bar is worth a visit. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to camp in the south of the lakes.
