About the site

Briarfields Touring Park is a friendly, family-run, adults-only touring park ideally located between Cheltenham and Gloucester, with excellent access to the Cotswolds and wider Gloucestershire. Although our location is wonderfully convenient, the park itself has a surprisingly green and established feel. Mature trees, hornbeam hedging, shrubs and landscaped areas provide privacy between pitches and attract an abundance of birds and wildlife, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment in which to unwind. One of Briarfields' biggest advantages is just how easy it is to get here and how easy it is to explore once you've arrived. We're only a few minutes from the M5, with straightforward access for caravans and motorhomes and no narrow country lanes to negotiate. Once pitched up, you can happily leave your vehicle behind. Frequent bus services stop directly outside the park, providing easy connections into both Cheltenham and Gloucester, while our excellent network of cycle routes offers another great way to get around. Being so well connected does mean that Briarfields is not a remote or completely quiet countryside site. We are close to the local road network and background traffic noise can be heard, particularly at busier times. We prefer to be open about this so guests know what to expect before they arrive. For many, the trade-off is well worth it for the exceptionally convenient location, easy access, excellent public transport and the freedom to explore without having to drive everywhere. Touring guests can choose from hard-standing pitches with 10amp electric hook-up or spacious fully serviced pitches. Each pitch is separated by hornbeam hedging, providing a good degree of privacy, although as this is natural planting, some hedges are more mature than others. The park is beautifully maintained, with modern facilities and everything you need for a comfortable stay, whether you're joining us for a convenient overnight stop or settling in for a longer holiday exploring Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. Cycling is one of the real advantages of staying at Briarfields. A direct off-road cycle path takes you all the way into Cheltenham in around 10 minutes, making it wonderfully easy to pop into town for shopping, lunch or a day exploring without taking the car. Sustrans National Cycle Route 41 is also just moments from the park and provides a route towards Gloucester, while the network of local paths gives keen cyclists plenty of opportunities to explore further afield. Prefer four wheels to two? Simply hop on the bus directly outside the park. With frequent services to both Cheltenham and Gloucester, motorhome guests in particular can pitch up, switch off the engine and leave it that way until it's time to head home. Cheltenham town centre is around ten minutes away and offers a wonderful mix of Regency architecture, independent shops, restaurants, theatres, festivals and green spaces, as well as the world-famous Cheltenham Racecourse. Historic Gloucester is equally easy to reach, with its magnificent cathedral, historic docks and Gloucester Quays, while the Cotswolds are right on our doorstep. Picturesque towns and villages including Winchcombe, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold are all within easy reach, making Briarfields an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of the country. For guests who don't have their own caravan or motorhome, our three cosy camping pods: Buttercup, Daisy and Bluebell offer a comfortable alternative. Each pod sleeps two adults, with either a double bed or twin beds, and has electricity, lighting and heating. Inside, there's a small kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave and kettle, while French doors open onto a private decking area where you can sit back and enjoy your stay. Guests simply need to bring their own bedding. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Briarfields, with up to two dogs per pitch. Our fully enclosed, dedicated dog exercise area, Dorothy's Field, gives four-legged guests somewhere safe to enjoy a proper off-lead run, and there are plenty of opportunities for walks from the park and further afield. The Orchard Bar - coming September 2026 From mid-September 2026, guests will have another reason to leave the car keys behind with the opening of our very own Orchard Bar. Located here on the park, it will provide a relaxed and friendly place to enjoy a drink, unwind after a day exploring and perhaps catch up with fellow guests all without having to venture far from your pitch. Briarfields is open all year round, and rallies are very welcome. Whether you're stopping with us for a night on your journey, visiting Cheltenham for an event, exploring Gloucester and the Cotswolds, or simply looking for an easy-to-reach base where you can park up and explore by bus, bike or on foot, you'll find a warm welcome at Briarfields.

Lovely, well cared for site so central for Cheltenham, Gloucester and surrounding area. Site was let down by one or two uncaring and irresponsible dog-owners who let their dogs off the lead to roam and soil others' pitches! Being off the lead, they occasionally charged and tried to attack other well controlled dogs in the site! Such lack of control by the few was not fair on the site owners, other dog owners and campers! One camper used one of the fresh water points to clean his teeth when there was a more than adequate 'toilet block' nearby, not to mention the facilities in his own van! Site benefits from having an excellent bus-service right by its entrance! The site is a great place to stay!

We're also pleased you made the most of the excellent bus service right outside our entrance, it's certainly one of the great advantages of our location. We were, however, very disappointed to hear about the behaviour of a small number of dog owners during your stay. We love welcoming dogs to Briarfields, but our park rules are very clear that dogs must be kept under control and on a lead around the touring park. Dorothy's Dog Field is specifically provided as a secure space where they can safely enjoy some off-lead freedom. Allowing dogs to roam, foul other guests' pitches or approach other dogs in an uncontrolled manner is simply not acceptable, and we're sorry you witnessed this. We were equally disappointed to read about the inappropriate use of one of our fresh-water points. These are provided for guests to obtain fresh drinking water and should certainly be treated accordingly. Had either issue been brought to our attention at the time, our team would have been very happy to address it directly. Thankfully, the overwhelming majority of our guests including those travelling with dogs are incredibly considerate of their fellow campers, and treat both the park and its facilities with respect. Thank you for recognising that the actions of a very small number of individuals aren't a reflection of Briarfields or the way the park is managed. We're so pleased that, despite these incidents, you still describe us as a great place to stay. Thank you again for your kind words and support. We're Scott and Jo, and Briarfields is very much our home as well as our business.

We're outdoorsy at heart and, when we're not busy looking after the park, you'll often find us pulling on our walking boots and heading out into the Cotswolds with our children and dogs. We feel incredibly lucky to live in this beautiful part of Gloucestershire, with its rolling hills, wonderful walks and countryside right on our doorstep, and we love sharing our favourite places with our guests.

That love of the outdoors also influences the way we care for Briarfields. Although we're in a well-connected location between Cheltenham and Gloucester, we've worked hard to create a green and welcoming park, with mature trees, hedging, shrubs and planting that provide habitats for birds and wildlife as well as privacy for our guests.

We try to make thoughtful choices wherever we can. All of our grounds and maintenance equipment is now electric, helping us reduce emissions and keep day-to-day maintenance around the park quieter. We also encourage wildlife to thrive and continue to look for practical ways to make Briarfields a little greener.

For us, though, running Briarfields is about more than looking after the grounds and facilities. We want people to feel genuinely welcome here. We're always happy to recommend a favourite walk, suggest somewhere for lunch, help with a cycle route or share one of those little Cotswold places you might otherwise drive straight past.

Things to do on site and in the Cheltenham area

Public transport from the site couldn't be easier. Bus stops for both Cheltenham and Gloucester are located directly outside the park, with services running 24 hours a day, every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening. It's a simple, stress-free way to explore the area without moving your vehicle.

Cheltenham is proudly known as The Festival Town and hosts over 30 festivals and major events each year, creating countless opportunities to make special memories. The calendar is wonderfully varied, with festivals celebrating literature, music, jazz, science, food and drink, including the ever-popular gin festivals.

On a sunny day, a visit to Cheltenham's 50-metre outdoor lido is a real highlight and one of the best places in town to relax and cool off. The town is also home to outstanding theatres, including the much-loved Everyman Theatre, offering a fantastic programme of touring and in-house productions throughout the year.

Nearby, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway operates charming steam and diesel train journeys between Cheltenham and Broadway, while history lovers will enjoy a visit to Sudeley Castle and Gardens, where you can walk in the footsteps of kings and queens. Music fans can explore Gustav Holst's Birthplace Museum, a fascinating and atmospheric period house.

Harry Potter fans shouldn't miss a trip to Gloucester, where the magnificent cathedral featured in several of the films, and the cloisters, are instantly recognisable. Gloucester Docks make for a lovely afternoon out, with the award-winning National Waterways Museum, waterside walks and cafés, and designer outlet shopping at Gloucester Quays.

Gloucester itself is steeped in history, with fascinating attractions including Blackfriars Priory, The House of the Tail of Gloucester, Discover De Crypt, Gloucester Folk Museum and the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, all offering insight into the city's rich past.

The Cotswolds are, of course, a must-see. This quintessentially English landscape of rolling hills and 'wolds' is beautiful in every season and perfect for relaxed days out. Explore charming villages such as Bourton-on-the-Water, Winchcombe, Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold and Broadway, all within 40 minutes.

Or venture further afield to experience the diverse scenery of the Forest of Dean (40 minutes) and the Wye Valley (60 minutes).
