Fantastic family friendly site.

Fantastic little site nestled just outside a small country village. The space available on site is brilliant with great welfare facilities and lots of space and activities for the children. Alan and Ruth are brilliant and make a great stay. Be sure to ask Alan for a tour on the quad bike the children love the little ride round the site. Small little pubs and a coop within 15 minute walk or few minutes drive.

Fantastic wee site

Lovely little site which is a mix of nature reserve, animal sanctuary and campsite. Showers, toilets block with fully accessible shower which is great to see. Alpacas and an emu roam around and there are facilities for children like swings, a zip line.

Amazing campsite

What a wonderful find. Animals encounters on tap with emus and alpacas - all very friendly and roaming free. Ruth and Alan were amazing and on hand for anything. The kids loved the trailer rides, grass surfing and all the play equipment. They had even set up a pool for the kids to play in in this heat. Very attentive and well equipped campsite. The children are all ready asking to go back!

Amazing campsite

Hill Farm is an amazing place to camp. They have so many activities for kids and Alan and Ruth did so much for us. The site itself is wonderful and we had a great spot down the hill near the stream. We'll definitely be back for another stay.

Perfect

Perfect location, quiet, pretty and lots of space with different pitches. Wonderful attentive owners who made sure we had everything we needed and made sure our little one had the best time. She loved saying goodbye morning to the animals each day :) Pretty walks, villages, pubs and farm shops all nearby. Will definitely be back!

Great stay

Really nice stay. The owners couldn't have been more helpful. Lots of space and fun for the kids to run around, and appreciated the archery and other games. Will be back next year

Fantastic weekend!!

We have just come home from an absolutely fantastic weekend at Hill Farm. Ruth and Alan were brilliant - Alan took the kids around the farm and my daughter loved choosing the willow branches for the wallabies! Can't wait to go back.

Highly recommend

We are just home from two nights at hill farm and are already planning our trip back. We've had the best time. Ruth and Alen are very accommodating and a lot of care and thought has gone into campers having the best experience and children having lots of fun. 3 toilets and showers available and kept very clean. Lovely lake to paddle in a play areas for children, 2 friendly alpacas roaming around is a lovely touch and lots of animals to see! Lots of games set up like for family fun and the opportunity to choose your pitch is great! Can't wait to return

Great campsite!

This is a great campsite perched up on a hill in Essex, surrounded by lovely little villages with easy access to Braintree and Chelmsford. We had hook up, of which there are about 6 pitches on top of the hill but without hook up, there is a great choice of spaces to camp both up on the hill close to facilities or in the lower fields. Plenty of water taps around. Limited toilet facilities (3), two of which are combined with bath/shower, all of which are disability accessible. The site was fairly quiet and never had to wait to use facilities but could be busy if campsite more busy. 3 washing up sinks. All facilities were very clean. Nice short walking trail to lake on-site. Absolutely loved meeting the two alpacas who roam freely and seemed to like sleeping near our set up. There are rabbits, birds, an ostrich and some wallabies and games and activities freely available for all to use. Archery, balance boards, badminton, stilts etc. Very peaceful location on the Stansted flight path but not flying low enough for much noise. We enjoyed watching the planes. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, checking in with everyone and always time for a chat. It was very windy on top of the hill whilst we were there and slight damage to tent poles, so recommend pitching further down hill if windy.

Perfect family fun

Amazing first experience to camping. Alan and Ruth were so welcoming and friendly and ready to help with anything. Being able to see the animals and have access to activities made us feel so relaxed and at ease. Will definitely be returning soon!

One of the best campsites for kids!

Really nice place, attentive hosts, quad bike tour on arrival. Cleaner facilities than a premiere inn. Alpacas, wallabies, soft archery, zip line, nature pond it's worth the price if your taking the kids.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming, the site has lovely nature walks to adventure and has friendly rescued animals you would normally never see.

Fabulous views

A lovely site with panoramic views over the rolling countryside. We had the site more or less to ourselves but, with 19 acres to explore, I can't imagine it would ever feel anything other than peaceful. The alpacas are delightful and so friendly but never bothersome. The facilities are great - I've never had a bath at a campsite before! Very clean and well maintained with lots of hot water.. We were grateful for the use of a fridge freezer. Alan and Ruth were excellent hosts, friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. We would definitely recommend this site as a great place to stay.

Amazing!

What a wonderful campsite! The owners Ruth and Alan were absolutely wonderful hosts and couldn't have been anymore accommodating. Our children loved the Alpacas, wallaby's, chickens and resident cat Mary. The site was peaceful and a wonderful way to spend a weekend. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you Ruth and Alan.

Superb site, clean facilities and happy hosts

A great escape. Even down to the friendly team and chilled out alpaca's. Clean, tidy facilities that looked loved and some great spots just nearby.

Excellent

Everything was perfect - I went for a peaceful night with a fire and to watch the stars. I got all of this and much more, they have an emu and wallabies which were great to see, as well as the friendliest pair of alpacas possible. They spent most of the night by my camp while I admired the view - which was stunning by the way. Upon arrival, I was given a tour of the site and offered options on where to camp and the pros and cons of each area. The owners could not do enough, but were not overbearing - absolutely perfect campsite that I cannot recommend enough. The only possible con I can think of is that the alpacas are roaming around the campsite, so if you're nervous of animals, this is worth keeping in mind, but I cannot stress enough how friendly these alpacas are and they really did make my trip. This is a great location if you like stargazing, and the owls flying right in front of me was an excellent addition. I had a wonderful time, and I'll be returning as soon as possible.

Great for families

Lovely 18 acre site with plenty of room for camping and leisure activities. Plenty for children to do including play area, zip line, archery and volleyball. Resident animals include alpacas, wallabies, chickens and an emu. Facilities lovely and clean although there is no chemical toilet disposal due to septic tank waste only.

Lovely place, lovely animals, lovely people!

Alan and Ruth (the owners) were really friendly and hospitable but also let you get on with your own thing when you want to as well. The location is very pretty and quiet, the facilities and amenities were all very modern and clean and the animals are just an added bonus! Can’t wait to come and stay here again!

Amazing!

I had an amazing stay at Hill Farm with my three-year-old daughter, who absolutely adored all the animals. From the moment we arrived, Alan and Ruth made us feel incredibly welcome. The campsite offered so much space and our pitch felt wonderfully secluded, with no one else in sight. The facilities were excellent and spotlessly clean. I highly recommend staying here and can't wait to return—hopefully for a longer stay next time!

Lovely

An absolutely lovely stay at the farm! Ruth and Alan were so helpful and went out of their way to be hospitable. The campsite was lovely and animals were a super cute addition. Lots of free activities too, like badminton, archery etc. Facilities were good too. Town is an easy, nice walk and The Vine has amazing food. Can't wait to stay next year.

Amazing campsite

We loved our stay at Hill Farm Camping, which is a really beautiful spot. Allen and Becca were really welcoming and the facilities were perfect for camping with lots of activities. Our two young children didn’t want to leave, they particularly loved the animals and the swing set. Can’t wait to return next year for a longer stay.

Highly recommend

For me and my girlfriend, it was one of our first ever camping trips (first for me) and we weren't overly prepared. The weather wasn't fantastic so we were doubtful that the trip would be a success. However, when we arrived, we were greeted by the very friendly owners who showed us around, introducing us to their brand new and very clean toilets, showering and cleaning facilities and let us settle in. If you have family members or friends who are fond of animals like my girlfriend, this campsite is perfect as they own alpacas, an emu, chickens and some very rare white wallabies. The site itself was gorgeous as well, with a river, wooded areas, lovely walks for people of all ages and not to mention games for young kids such as archery and a very fun zipline. On the second day, the owner took us for a tour of the rest of the campsite on the trailer of his quad, which was probably my favourite part of the trip. He took us around the rest of the campsite which we didn't have chance to see which was also just as lovely. As you can tell, we had a fantastic time and that was mostly thanks to the owners being fantastic hosts, showing us around and making our camping trip a pleasure.
