Non electric wild pitches

Red Squirrel Campsite is perfect for families, adventure seekers and hikers. Wild open pitches allow you to have the freedom to pick and choose your pitch. There is a pub just a 15 minute walk from the site. Either a short drive, or woodland walk into the village are a few more restaurants and a local shop.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Wild PitchesAug 2025

When we arrived and were told "we don't allocate pitches, just find somewhere", we thought it was a daft idea. However, the site is plenty big enough and there is a good variety of ground to please everyone. We found a good spot near a woodland for the kids to play in. Facilities and staff were good and the food van and ice cream van a big win.

Excellent campsite

Brilliant campsite. We had our 3 dogs with us and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly and helpful as it was our first time there. There's a coffee and ice cream van onsite and a food van. Also a Wi-Fi shack if needed. Facilities were very clean and well kept. Location was stunning. There are plenty of walking paths and public house is 15 minute walk 5 minutes in the car. We will definitely be back. Only downside was the midges, be prepared with nets and spray. Just remember you are in Scotland!

Small Tent - Non Electric Wild PitchesAug 2025

Unfortunately, the pitches are not marked or numbered, so if people can camp right next to you (and they do) there is no chance for privacy or a quiet night. Would be amazing to separate families and larger groups from solo travellers or couples. Anyway, we had a great time.

The perfect place for a night or a week. Great location, friendly staff, very clean facilities, food/coffee truck if you don't want to cook, small fridge/freezer if needed, drying room. Amazing views of the mountains. Highly recommend.

Large Tent - Non Electric Wild PitchesAug 2025

We had a fantastic stay at Red Squirrel campsite. Beautiful location, spacious pitches. The children really enjoyed swimming in the little river and lake by the campsite - what a magical place! A campfire by the tent with views of the mountains. Wonderful! Definitely worth coming back. The only point for improvement in my opinion would be the sanitary facilities. Quite a long walk (we were at the back of the campsite).

Amazing campsite! Beautiful views, great coffed, friendly staff. Toilets are deeply clean every day (very needed with a full campsite), great experience! It would be good to have extra showers, there's only 4 for ladies plus 4 outside for a full park is not that much.

Awesome staff who couldn’t be more help when I forgot a few items. The campsite is beautiful and there was loads of space for each tent. Great facilities on site. Pub a 10min walk away, ice cream/coffee van and also an amazing food truck.

We absolutely loved this campsite, a small blip on arrival but sorted out the next day, couldn't find fault whatsoever, loved the location and all it had to offer, the staff were brilliant and friendly. We weathered storm Floris and was impressed with the concerns of the staff and their advice, we truly can't wait to return.

Jon, Jack and I had a great time, first visit to a campground since I was a teenager (longer ago than I care to admit, leave a girl her secrets) and its going to be hard to beat!

Lovely friendly staff and beautiful location

I stayed at Red Squirel under its previous owners who were great but the facilities were basic, with the new upgrades, this campsite is definitely one of the best for walkers and hikers.

Amazing site, great first family holiday away together and highly recommend it to anyone. We love the fact we got left alone, no overly strict rules. Thanks again.

Small Tent - Non Electric Wild PitchesJul 2025

Great location. The site is larger than I usually prefer and was busy most of the time. Toilets and showers are cleaned two or three times a day - They're closed for a short period in the middle of the day for cleaning, but also get a quick clean in the morning and evening. The ground is very uneven, so a sleeping mat or similar is useful. There's a small shop and two food stalls on site, with a nice pub half a mile away. Glencoe itself (the village) is about half a mile away, and the site is in the valley, with the river Coe running next to the site. There's lots of local walking (mainly hills) and beautiful scenery, even when the weather's not at its best. A little further away are Ballachulish and Loch Leven, and past that there's Fort William, which is the largest town in the area. Further afield there's even more to see and do. I was there for a week and really needed at least a few more days.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Wild PitchesJul 2025

Honestly this is a beautiful campsite, full of Scottish scenic views! The people who work there are super friendly and helpful! The food van and wee cake and coffee van happened to be open when we were there and the food portions are huge with great prices too! We would 100% recommend this campsite! However, the only downfall was we went in mid summer, there's soooo many midges! We got eaten alive, even with wearing bug repellent and having citronella. You can buy mosquito nets for your face, but we would recommend going here outwith July and August.. but if you're not bothered by them, you'll be fine.

Lovely wee campsite

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Wild PitchesJun 2025

Fantastic little gem of a campsite just a mile or so out from the three sisters car park. Upon arrival the reception is in immediate view, greeted by a lovely woman with short hair who was very informative. Had a wee drive round and picked our spot to park up at. Everyone in the campsite was respectful and quiet. It was lovely to see deer just walking around carefree in the campsite too. My dogs and my girlfriend loved their stay and we will definitely be back.

Beware of midges

Large Tent - Non Electric Wild PitchesJun 2025

Lovely campsite, we couldn't fault it - between hills and a little river, lots of trees and plenty of space to camp. Beautiful site. Facilities were clean, there was a food van and an additional van with coffee and cake, you can get your essentials (including a fire pit with wood) at the reception. A pub within a short walk, plenty of other places within a short drive. But you must be aware of midges, they take no prisoners. We were wearing nets whenever outside and we still got half-eaten.

Beautiful campsite with stunning scenery around

It's a fantastic campsite to stay. Upon arrival we have received a warm welcome and all information we may need during our stay. The site is surrounded by nature with beautiful mountain and rivers views. We wish to stay longer and we will definitely return to Red Squirrel. Thank you to all members of staff.
