Peaceful
Single Axle Caravan - Select Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2026 Our first visit to Setthorns and it won’t be our last. Great amount of pitches to choose from if you go for “select electric pitches” wardens were very pleasant and helpful. Great for walks and cycling. Saw Fallow deers from our caravan and plenty of songbirds too. No O2 signal for me, but hubby had 3 so at least one of us was contactable if needed. So I used my phone as a camera for our stay.
An beautiful spot in the quieter part of the forest
Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 We booked very last minute for the bank holiday weekend at the start of half term, for this reason, we were only able to get a non electric pitch on the Set Oaks patch.
This was totally understandable as I'm sure they were booked up weeks before. It's a beautiful little spot with direct access onto open forest and the old railway line. Horses and their tiny foals popped into see everyone each day and we also spotted a deer. We felt that there were quite a lot of us packed into Set Oaks but again, it was a last minute booking so we were glad to be there nevertheless.
The staff were lovely, welcoming and very helpful. We were completely self sufficient, which you need to be, and the site makes it abundantly clear that there are no facilities on site. We took a walk to the Hare and Hounds for Sunday lunch and though it was incredibly hot the walk was in dappled sunlight most of the way. A lovely lunch and a few drinks and then we walked back. The site is very large with lots of beautiful secluded spots with or without electricity.
The weekend was only marred by a very inconsiderate couple who drove around Set Oaks dumping their grey water, and though the staff monitor the whole site regularly, they were not about when this happened and of course, it would have been impossible to get to them before this couple left. We loved our stay and we have already booked our next stay and very much look forward to it.

Motorhome - Standard Electric Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2026 We had a great stay in a very peaceful spot. We had a phone call checking our arrival time as we were running late explaining what to do when we arrive.
When we arrived there was an envelope welcoming us and a map of the site.
This site was well laid out with great facilities and good value for money.

Motorhome - Standard Electric Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2026 Love this site this is the second time, with the stunning setting of the new forest, great walks to see the wild horses and deer.
The staff are really friendly and helpful.
Couldn’t give facilities 5 star as there is no facilities other than waste and water.
We will return to this site love it 😊

Had dogs with us and were disappointed with the many rules to contain them. I understand that dogs need to be under control, but allowing them no outside space or an area to run will make us think about coming back.
The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the mulled wine and mince pies.

Motorhome - Standard Electric Hardstanding Pitches Oct 2025 As usual/as with previous stays here, the site was lovely. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, on this occasion a lady that was camping in her motorhome just accross from us had loud and intrusive music playing for about an hour...very unthoughtful on her part! I didn't want to complain for fear of making a fuss, but it was annoying as we enjoy visiting this site particularly for its peace and quiet, relaxing atmosphere and enjoying the surrounding nature...probably should have complained, so can't blame the site for that!
I would say that my only real gripe with this site, is the lack of WiFi and mobile phone coverage. I'm with EE and wanted to contact my daughter who was staying at my house on "cat duty" and I wasn't able to ever receive a strong enough signal to email or message her and had to wander around site to obtain a strong enough signal to phone her (still awful reception when talking). Thought EE would have had sufficient coverage?
There is little to no lighting around the campsite at nightime, so take a good torch if you're planning to take a dog for a nighttime wee, or you'll get lost for sure. All in all, a great campsite and thoroughly recommended!

Forest get away
Single Axle Caravan - Select Electric Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2025 Great site perfect location. Water close to the pitches so your not travelling far to get fresh water when needed.
No facilities so a tad expensive for what it is and charged extra for more than 4 people. It's not like the 5th person is using the facilities as there isn't any. The staff I delt with were lovely. I would definitely come back.

Single Axle Caravan - Select Electric Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2025 This was our first time camping here as it was recommended by our friends.
It is such a beautiful place, and you really are in the thick of the forest with some beautiful sights, animals roaming freely. We have 3 children aged 15, 12, and 5 and they all loved it and were never bored. They enjoyed the witches village in Burley and the streams that our dog could go in.
It's the perfect holiday for quality family time.

Single Axle Caravan - Select Electric Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2025 We stayed at Setthorns during the school summer holidays and already want to book to return in 2026 as we loved it that much.
The pitches were large and very beautifully positioned in the forest.
Bike rides directly from the site to Brockenhurst on the disused railway line is perfect for the kids as well as the numerous bike trails in the forest from the site where is was common to find lots of wildlife. We also visited nearby coastal areas of Christchurch, Mudeford (excellent for crab fishing, paddle boarding and canoeing), Avon beach and Highcliffe.
Nearby streams were perfect for paddling in the forest to cool down on a hot day. Lots of New Forest ponies, deer, sheep, cows, squirrels, birds, rabbits seen on a daily basis on the site and immediate surrounding area.
We would highly recommend this site and can't wait to return.
